It appears the water levels are going down now by looking at the water trend charts. I sure hope this wasn't a facade by APCO to just give us water for the holiday weekend and then turn around and lower us again. Maybe I'm just being to presumptuous.....

I hope it is the lack of rain. We have had no measurable amount in awhile now. Let's hope they don't lower much more. It's been nice to have somewhat of a full pool.

No, I think that they raised the lake for the Week end. If it gets any lower, I will not safely be able to launch my boat to get into the channel.

You bet you should be concerned. The paddle club has a festival coming up. I'll give you three guesses where the water for this event will come from. Its a three day event.
"The Coosa River Whitewater Festival is NOT Cancelled! There have been several rumors over the weekend that this years whitewater festival will be canceled. These rumors are false and the festival will go on as planned. Several news sources have reported that Alabama Power Company's reduced flows (due to drought conditions) may effect this years whitewater festival. The Coosa River Paddling Club (CRPC) has been in contact with Alabama Power Company and there will be water released, however the release will be below what the CRPC had originally requested. We look forward to having another great whitewater festival this coming weekend!

There is a big rain scheduled for Thursday and Friday this week and all will be well. National Hurricane center has predicted a mild season so I fully expect a couple of large ones to blow through and supply us with our wet fun.
If not it is what it is, LMLPA is out there doing an outstanding job standing up for our property rights. Everyone that enjoys the lake will find a way to continue to enjoy it because there is always a way and no matter how bad it may be or be rumored to be it can always be worse. Right now the water is less than a foot from full and until it goes below 463 all is well and when it goes below that we still have a backup plan and will continue to come until the end of October even if the water gets below 460 like it did in 2007.
My other option is to sit in Birmingham where there is no water. It is still going to be a great summer...... The lake is almost full not almost empty

Hey guys, talked to Mike Riley yesterday. As you know, he stays in close contact with APCO regarding these matters.
Alan Peeples with APCO stated that there is NO guarantee of a recreational release and if there was one, it will not affect Logan Martin. The release would be Saturday only.
The recent drop after the weekend was due to a drowning at Weiss Lake next to the Dam. That kept water from being released for a period of time. More info here: http://www.myfoxal.com/story/18639391/cherokee-county-rescue-workers-search-for-possible-drowing-victim
As you all can see, our water level is back up closer to full pool currently. Plus, we'll likely get some more liquid goodness raining in there overnight tonight and early next week. Things are definitely looking better than they did a month ago.
See ya on the lake,
E
