Has always been one of my favorite places to eat. 2 weeks ago, the catfish fingers tasted like mud. Figured that this was just an anomaly. Got the catfish fingers last night and they tasted like mudcats, fried in kerosene. The one place I could always count on has gone down as much as the prices there have gone up. Dang. Hope they get it straightened out. We will be cooking our own fish for a while.

Is there one close to the lake?  Must be at least 60 miles there. It is good but a long ride.  Have not been there since Red sold it years ago.

Spot Remover....did you ask to speak with Oskar after the second time of you getting a bad meal? If you didn't, then shame on you. How will a manager know they are putting out bad food if you don't let them know? If I were you, I'd call Oskar today and let her know about your situation.

Called her. She had left or was leaving. Some employee talked with me. Very cordial. (So, no shame on me, here). Got a concession on a future meal, but it will be a while before I go back. I hope they get things straightened out, because it is convenient to our place.

We have not been in several years b/c the quality has gone down hill. Probably won't go ever again.

I have been to Red’s Catfish Cabin many times and according to Google Maps, it is 22.3 miles and 31 minutes from the intersection of Hwy. 280 and Hwy. 22 in Alex City.  The best route is Hwy 22 to Hwy 49.  The hard part is seeing the left turn onto Catfish Road off Hwy 49.  But it is very good catfish, both whole and filets.  They have Church and other groups going in busses from as far away as Georgia.

But, if you don’t want to go that far, Truman’s on Hwy. 9 in Santuck will give Red’s a close race, just not quiet as good.  Truman’s also has great fried oysters, in my opinion.

the last couple of times I have been there it seems to be slipping - not terrible but not the same quality of food. Service is still good. Something has changed. We have not been back in a while although it's not written off our list. It's not about price.

Since we're on the subject........(and in retrospect) I called for a take out around lunchtime on Sat. (Labor Day weekend) and they were ALREADY out of BBQ!!!!  Needless to say, I was appalled! I might could understand being out of ribs, but BBQ????  Something's going on...........just sayin!
