Wonder how low the Lake will drop? Too many homes being built around the area and drawing it dry. Will only get worse over the years that rain is scarce. Lake Buchanan is getting as bad.

Lake Travis serves as the primary flood control reservoir of the Highland Lake chain. The level of the lake is dependent on the amount of rainfall in the tributaries to the Lake. In drought-stricken years, the level of the lake will most likely be as low or lower than it was this year. With more people moving to Austin, the requirement for drinking water will escalate and the amount of water being taken from the lake will increase. In addition, the city of Round Rock began drawing water for their city in 2020 and as their population increases, the amount of water they draw from Lake Travis will undoubtedly increase. The future for homeowners and boaters on Lake Travis doesn't look bright.
