Just purchased 2001 Merc 40hp 2 cyl. with low hours. Less than 40. I have owned several two strokes in the past and never bypassed the oil pump and pre mixed. Thinking about doing it with this one. Just wondering the best way. I’m going to remove the linkage from the carb to the oil pump. Connect the fuel line directly to fuel pump. My debate is to fill the oil pump with synthetic motor oil and connect the input and output ports to circulate the oil or just pull the oil pump gear. I’m leaning towards pulling the oil pump gear and plugging the oil pump ports. Anyone done this? Thoughts?

FYI - I will have a 1994 Yamaha 25HP (C25ELRS), electric start, electric choke, long shaft (20"), remote steer, great compression with controls for sale after I do the motor swap. Great motor just wanting a bigger motor.
