BASS FISHING - POOR and GREAT
The summer heat had bass fishing shut down for most of the day, but if you like to worm fish, I found late in the afternoon in deeper water productive this past week.
I made 2 trips this past week and found bass fishing good on Carolina Rigged worms in 20-30 foot of water off main lake points and steep banks in the golf course area of the Ga State Park. NO to FEW bites from noon until 3pm both days, BUT from 3 pm until we left each day at 6pm, the bite was great! 9 keepers Tue 30JUL and 6 keepers Tue 06JUN were boated AND we missed more than we caught! No lunkers, but we had several 14-15 spots and a 20 inch largemouth in the mix of spots and largemouth. We returned all to the lake immediately! The bite was dead until the afternoon shadows creeped out onto the banks. It was as though you turned on the "bite" switch! The exact same banks that were dead from noon until 3 pm, turned on from 3pm until 6pm! The bite most likely went longer, but I had my 8 year old grandson with me and he was ready to go by then!
For now, the bite was great for me, from 3pm to 6pm on cc rigged worms in deeper water (probably the same from first light until around 9am?)
