Hurray!!!!!  For the first time in over 2 years (since March 2011) the lake is at the full pool level of 1071 feet.  We could still use some more rain, since it seems the Corps likes to overfill by about one foot at this time of year in preparation for the 6 months of drainage ahead of us.

We had an impressive amount of rain this winter, especially from mid-December to early February.  I still don't get what happened on October 29 2012.  From that date the lake level began a steep decline, plummeting 6 feet in 6 weeks.  That's what put us in crisis mode.
Before that it had only declined 4 feet in 6 months.  The Corps must have had some downstream obligations to fulfill.

Nice to see it back. 0.21 feet above full pool. Needs to keep going up until at least the end of may. Would love to see 1073 or 1074. Maybe we could get the best part of a season in with the water being within a couple of feet of full. Of course I am sure that the corps will make sure that doesn't happen.

Unreal,
The first banter in "7" months. Oh well, I too live and die by the lake. I share your enthusiasm "justthefacts" and "mickeyfish". At least you make an overall sad situation a little better with your participation. I will stick with you in great times such as now and when our hearts are let down again later this year. As for now, I will fish on off my dock and say to myself "this is why I moved here"

Bravo sirs!

1073.25 and still rising!  This is the highest level in their public records (going back 6 years).  The record is 1077 back in 1964.  It will probably rise a bit more today and then they'll drain it off tomorrow or Wednesday.

People who live on or near the lake:  What is it like with the lake two feet over full pool?

It's great!  Actually looks like a real lake again.  The only problem with it being 2.6 over is it's going to look low when it comes back down to normal full  ;-)

It feels like you have to walk uphill to your dock :-)

The lake itself gets lots of reflected wakes off the shore/seawalls.  It is basically a big bathtub.  If you fish or just cruise around you probably don't care but if you are into watersports its less than ideal.

It really is beautiful out there with the lake over full pool!  I will say one thing I kind of miss is having the beaches/little islands to go beach and chill on.  Looks like my anchor is gonna start getting more use again! :)
