Is this open yet at Discovery Center? If not, does anyone have a open date? I have people coming in next week and it would be great to try.

It opens today. They are having an open house from 11am to 3pm with a tour of the restaurant, meeting the staff and appetizer samples.

I have visited twice with a group of four and everything was excelent. Watch the coffee. One member of our group order a cup of coffee, it was excelent and she had a refill.
Maybe I am cheap or out of touch, but at 4.50 for a cup of coffee and 4.50 for the refill it seems a bit high. Considering you could get 5 bottles of TWO BUCK CHUCK'S and a pretty good high for the same money.
Having said that I am going back tomorrow.
You might also want to try Christopher's. I have been there three times and the food and the service are execelent.

$4.50 for coffee anywhere (even Starbucks) is steep. At restaurants refills are always a given, especially at that price. I used to own a high end restaurant and we charged $3.50pp for coffee and we did french press at the table and each press per person was 2.5 cups and for most that is plenty.
Their menu on line looks great.

My SIL and I went by there today. They have done a lovely job -- it's both rustic and elegant. They have a few tables out on a covered dining porch that would definitely be the place to sit on a warm evening. The view is great too. My only criticism is the open kitchen. It appears they will be cooking on both ends of the dining room. I know it's very trendy to have an open kitchen, but I've never particularly considered the act of cooking as part of the "show". I'm looking forward to going there for dinner soon.
Does anyone know what they are building in the field down behind Springhouse?

I agree with you on open kitchens ... but it is the rage. Pretty much all the higher end restaurants in Atlanta are open kitchens. It does let you see who is actually cooking your food.

They are building stables for the horses and carriages to use on the trails and that will bring you from the boat docks to the resturant. They will also have unpowered water craft at the docks for rental purposes.

I was told that they would be off Tucker Road.

If you look at that map and see where Tucker Road meets the lake, there's not really a good place to locate an area for docking. That fishtail looking part of the lake is shallow. Very shallow. And also very populated. I would think that a lot of dredging will need to be done if boats are going to be able to get there once the water drops to about 488. And if I had a cabin in that area I would start to plan on losing it.

The long range plan has always been to get rid of all of the old cabins between Willow Point and The Ridge, so if some of them are in the way of a new plan, eliminating them won't be a concern. People in that area should know something before the start of summer since the policy is to give at least three months notice.
That was the old policy anyway, I am not up to speed on any of the new policies that may have been implemented in the last year or so.
