Anyone have any recommendations for a boat lift repair man?

It won't lift the boat anymore. It is only 3 years old. I guess it is a motor issue. It also makes an awful screeching noise when I lower the boat to the water.

It could be the motor, but it is more likely that the belt needs to be tightened. The screeching is probably because the hoist and the brackets that hold the pipe that winds the cables to your lift need to be greased at the grease fittings.

Thanks Spider and Kizma. I'm not real handy with that sort of thing but, I'll give it a try.

If there is a cover over the motor and pully assembly then it may be worth taking the cover off to see where the sound is coming from. It's usually easy to tell if the pulley is slipping. Send a photo of it if possible and this would be fun to diagnose the problem.

I've seen pipes on which cable winds installed in brackets with no bearings and those can become noisy if not regularly greased. Also hard to get to because they can be over the boat docking area.

This is all assuming this type of lift is an overhead lift. If this is a lift from below then it is probably manufactured (then who is the manufacture).

Watch out for wasps under motor cover.

Appreciate the "heads up" Ed. I have found those suckers in the most improbable places and would rather not have to deal with them at the top of a ladder.
