There is a better way to increase speed on your pontoon boat. If you drastically increase the horsepower (say 1,000hp range) of your pontoon boat, the flat underdeck section between the pontoons will create lift. This will lift the boat, reduce its weight and reduce its drag. (Much like a catamaran performance boat) aka. CAT BOAT. At my shop, this method is preferred over adding a center lifting pontoon and can be performed for a reasonable price. Of course, you will be required to sign an indimnification form and hydro steering is advised.

try to push a pontoon boat with the Cat Boat as a demo. We could calculate the speed if we do the math of subtracting the weight of the Cat Boat after we remove the engins.

Thanks Kizma, very interesting.
As my Harris with a 135 I/O will only do 18mph at 3500 RPMs (6 folks) and if I could get say 26 mph at same RPM and save 50% on fuel the ROI is almost a now brainer as we will burn through $100 in a weekend so after 20 weekends (one summer basically) it has paid for itself.
Plus just saved about $30k as I want ed a pontoon which I can cruise at around 30, so this just might be the ticket instead of a new pontoon boat.

Wow, I'd love to know if anyone gets one of these this year and could report back on the performance.
