Have you looked at the proposed releases over the next three days? Looks like APCO plans on letting out about half of the water we gained in the last week!

There is a lot of water upstream and they are trying to control a level of up to 483 as per the variance. Also, the lake level is usually held .25 to .5 below the rule .....my guess is it will stay right where it's at until after plug day (Feb 18th).

I hope you are right, but, it seems to me that given there is no appreciable rain in the forecast for 10 days they need to slow down on the releases. Just my thoughts.

McGill's comment is pretty much verified by the attached graft by the Corps of E. Notice the lake is leveling out at about 482.5'.

I heard there was over 3" of rain in the watershed upstream. All that water is headed our way. You have to see the big picture...not what you see out of your window.

I hear you RR, not sure about the 3" part, however, it just seems like they should hold it as close to 483 as possible. Keep in mind that as the lake fills it takes exponentially much more water per foot of elevation rise. As we are still under the LaNina' pattern I worry about spring rains (just like 2007). Just saying, why not do the prudent thing.

I understand that was its original primary purpose, but, I would argue it is much more important (to the economy) today as a recreational lake.

Alabama power's economy is based on the sale of electricity. They can sell that power to california at a much higher rate than they can in alabama.Our recreation will always be a side benny. If we have another drought year and no water let's get together a class action law suit - we thaught we were buying lake front property!
