New owners, new name- Mitch Mooney and wife- named CrossRoads Cafe- stopped and talked awhile Sat. morning- opening 4/9/10, burgers, steaks, seafood ( tilapia and shrimp for sure ). Also said they are going to try a delivery service for surrounding community. Can't wait to try them. Seemed like real nice folks.

I wish them well. But there have been numerous failures there, so I don't hold out much hope. I don't want to be negative. Just that too many have lost so much at that place, it really gets to me.

JR's tried that at that same location. Population is not dense enough for that to work. I would think a good take-out would work though. I sure hope they keep the menu simple with a few good specialties. I'd love for them to succeed.

The problem has been mis-management EACH time. It was a joke when it was JR's. The crowds have been there for each incarnation of the place, but you can't do absentee ownership and not expect things to not go well. I love the place because it is right around the corner from me. I have eaten in the place 1-4 times a week every time it has opened. I also buy 90% of my fuel there with Brenda, although it is usaully about a dime more per gallon than in town. I do that to support the place because I benefit from it being there.

What the eatery needs is someone committed to the long haul. Someone that won't run out when the free rent period expires. Someone that is not trying to support 2-3 families at once. Someone that won't steal the reciepts. Someone that doesn't have destructive habits to support.

you just described the restaurant business. Little ones seem to do better when its a close knit family that runs it. I sure hope it works since I'm around the corner too.

it's about as far as you can get from my house (geographically) in the Lake Martin area....I hope they do well, but I won't be able to help.
