What a year on the forum! So many excellent posts…so many targets for BigFoot to poke fun at! Just remember, if you get poked it only means that I like you…and if I let you slide, it means …well..that
I really, really like you! This may go on too long so I better get crackin’…

SMOKE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR AWARD goes to Roswellric. In a discussion of a trash problem after
Georgia football games, RR posted that the big deal when he was there was the “blue haze” rising above the hippies in the open end of the stadium below the railroad tracks. I remember that blue haze from my last visit there when Sully was a senior at AU. Strangely, though, it must have cloned itself because there seemed to be one just like it right over the student section!

LIFE IS GOOD AWARD goes to Feb. In September, Feb declared that “once you retire, you will never understand how you could ever find the time to work!” Thanks, Feb, for stating it so simply. Truer words were never spoken.

NOAH’S ARK DONE RIGHT AWARD goes to Jethro. In the early Fall, Nancy Christine II commented that it had rained so much that animals were showing up at her house in pairs waiting for the Ark. CAT and GF chimed in with ideas of how to save all the little critters. But Jethro had the best idea of all saying, “make sure nobody loads up the 2 mosquitos!”. That got me to thinking of other good exclusions but Muddauber came up with another good one--fire ants!

BEST NEW BREED OF PEOPLE AWARD goes to Lakeboss who blamed the boat ban on HILLJACKS! Kizma A. explained to the unknowing that a ‘Hilljack’ is what ghetto dwellers call rednecks. Pontoonfisher then asked “what do Hilljacks call ghetto dwellers?” The question alone was funny enough but the answer given by BoatsRFun was…well…discomBOBulating!

SEINFELD MOMENT AWARD goes to Lakngulf who shared his grandfather’s thoughts on the 3 kinds of bad snakes--”live ones, dead ones, and sticks that look like snakes”…I definitely know about those sticks..they can be bad, bad, bad!

BEST NEW TERMINOLOGIES AWARD The finalists for this one are NC II for “billeted alloy vertebrate” and 8hcap for “bloviating pontificators”. I decided to give this to the one with the most Google hits…8hcap takes it 4700 to 3300...but after learning the definition of the winner, I fear I am setting myself up for something here!

BEST SURPRISE-ENDING JOKE AWARD From the jokes forum, the finalists are Hubcap for “Can coldwater clean dishes?” , Dirt Diva “My private part died”, and CAT for his “Maverick” joke …and the winner is DirtDiva! The old man in her joke reminds me so much of one of my old college roomies who was expelled for …shall we say…overexposure.

LURKING IN THE WORLD OF UNREALITY AWARD goes to TWC. In October, CAT complained that it had been 24 hours without anyone posting. TWC replied, “24 hours?? heck up here on Logan Martin, we sometimes go 24 days without a post! We just lurk down here for excitement…kinda like reality TV without the reality!”

FUNNIEST BUMPERS THREAD I know…I know…enough already…but there were so many bumpers threads that I couldn’t ignore them. On 10/02, roswellric innocently posted a link to a great amphibious car video…things went fine for a while until Murph poked and prodded until things went straight downhill from there! Nelems, robert then gave a very precise explanation of the difference between fenders and bumpers…schools’s out…thread in freefall!

CAT CAN COOK AWARD goes to NCII who related her experience at a Cat cookout..and I quote, “Cat can cook. I had about a pound of his butt and 5 of his crabs” Hmmmm… 5 crabs per pound of butt…sounds about right!

FUNNIEST PET VIDEO LINK AWARD goes to Webmaster for his Nov. 3 post titled “CAT can’t get his printer to work”. Hilarious!! If you missed it, go back and check it out…wondering if this is really Louie, Talisi’s cat, trying to print out his football picks!

SIGNIFICANT SHRINKAGE UPGRADE AWARD goes to Maddog who carried out his January swim as promised…he did say something about 2 hrs. under an electric blanket thereafter…hope everything returned to normal, maddog!

WHAT’S UP MAY NOT COME DOWN AWARD goes to Summer Lover. In attempting to explain that virga and viagara were not the same, SL stated that “one does not make it down and the other keeps it up”
Hmmmmmm…such similarities!

CREATIVE AND FUNNY AWARD The finalists for this one are Lakngulf for “Week before Christmas”, Rude Evin for his response to same, and Lakngulf again for “Top 10 Reasons the LM site is slow”…and the winner is Lakngulf for “Week before Christmas”…he really needs to be writing this…he is definitely NOT a “bloviating pontificator”!

MOST ENTERTAINING LINK AWARD goes to Maverick who first posted an Elf-Yourself video link. Kudos to the others who also posted one. All were very entertaining…and as ot said, “that got me in the Christmas spirit”.

SPORTS AWARDS : We had another great year on the Sports Forum and some fine performances were turned in at pool tracker. In January, Bamabob3 continued his hot streak by winning the football bowls challenge . In March, AJ’SDAD blew everybody out of the water in the March Madness pool with Muddauber taking the Sweet 16 pool. In December, Talisi won the regular season football pool. Congratulations to those winners!

WHO SAID THAT?…not an award but a little forum trivia. I will post some quotes below…see if you know or remember who said it…I will post the answers later…

1. “well…if you’re going to light it up, you better make sure it’s grounded!”
2. “if not rainfall, the units would be metric”
3. “but I heard his oysters were small…oops..wrong thread”
4. “which one is the sanke”
5. “LTL warned about what he could do”
6. “may want to restock your supply of eggs and nogg…something tells me you now have none”
7. “rhyme and verse and manure”
8. “the lake is closed for football season”
9. “looks like the same driver who taught me to ski”
10. “that’s some funny chit right there”

In a more serious vein, I wish to offer thanks to the following for all they did during 2009:

Webmaster for maintaining such a great site for the lake community…also, for his video links, work during Aquapalooza, and just being one of us!

Capt. Brooks for his input to the forum and the great service he and his staff provide to us all throughout the year.

Resident Realty experts, John and Toni, for the information they share on the forum.

All sponsors on this site allowing us to continue to have access to such a great venue for sharing our thoughts and ideas.

CAT for his continued excellent service and advice to the lake community.

NCII for making and sharing some great videos of interest to lake enthusiasts.

Finally, if anybody is still reading, MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I echo NCII in saying how great it has been to make new cyber friends, and this year it happened that I got to meet quite a few of you in real life. Thanks for coming up to speak to me in restaurants or C stores, I hope 2010 brings many such meet ups!
