"Weighing in on two areas of disagreement with a U.S. president with whom he has already clashed, Pope Francis said Monday that climate science is clearly true and that President Trump should allow young immigrants to stay in the United States if he is truly “pro-life.”

Next, I expect fake news fake news...no this is real news.

Tells us to keep open borders without walls while he lives behind a 40 foot wall in the toughest place in the world to immigrate too.  As for climate science we heard for a week Irma was going to ravage the east coast. Then she decided to go up the west coast of Florida and over to western Tennessee. So tell me again how they are supposed to know what the climate/weather are going to do in ten years, much less a hundred years. And yes, I know the difference between weather and climate but you idiots blame our current weather on bogus climate data but can't tell with accuracy what a hurricane is goingg to do three days out.

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/745964/vatican-intent-on-signing-paris-climate-agreement

So Vatican city "intended" to sign the deal

https://treaties.un.org/pages/ViewDetails.aspx?src=TREATY&mtdsg_no=XXVII-7-d&chapter=27&lang=en

But didnt.....

Wow, the pope is almost as good as you GFY  -  pure hypocit.

If the Pope was pro immigrant he can start with removing his own walls if he is truly "Pro-life" and we can ship him a bunch of dreamers.

In 1993, greater New York took in 128,434 legal immigrants, or .877 of its area population.11 (Illegal immigrants would have swollen that number considerably.) Against that standard, Vatican City should not object to taking a similar percentage of its population, especially with its relatively lower population density. That works out to just 8.7 persons each year (not counting illegals).

Since none at all are accepted, one begins to see a bit of a credibility problem. Namely, why should the Catholic hierarchy ask the United States to do (i.e., accept huge numbers of immigrants and refugees) what its own little country will not?

Perhaps the Vatican would argue that even 8.7 persons a year would eventually overwhelm its resources. In 50 years, after all, that would amount to 435 additional citizens, plus all their offspring. Accounting for the relatively high birthrates of refugee families, 50 years might well see a doubling of Vatican City's population.

"climate science is clearly true"

"Cow science is cleary true"  but does not mean we all have to have Mad Cow Disease.

There is a lot of science, lot of climate, and true, the climates change.  There was an ice age, there have been floods, droughts, and locusts!   I loved it when they said Irma was worst since, since, since 1960.  Did Castro's cigars cause such bad weather?

On the other hand, what power we have if my SUV can cause something like Irma.

Fortunately faithful Catholics don't have to listen to the Pope when it comes to these matters.  He is no less fallible when it comes to climate science than Algore.......to wit, he is wrong.  But hey, so are a lot of people suckered by the ACC hoax.

The Pope needs to tend to his church and spiritual matters.

This Pope is the first one I know of that enjoys being a politician.....instead of a religious leader.  Too bad....All the Pope wants is more dimokrap voters and more Catholics in USA.  The Catholic religion is on a major decline ever since we found out the clergy likes little boys.  The Reformation started centuries ago and continues today....inspite of the current Pope.

The pope is an adherent of liberation theology, which is basically Marxism with a crucifix hanging around your neck. Like many liberal catholics, the pope, while very intelligent, cannot see that stealing from those who earn in order to give to those who have less leads to anarchy and tyranny.

Thank Buddha this is the last Pope

The prophecies of the Irish Saint Malachy, the 12th-century bishop of Armagh, have thrilled and dismayed readers for centuries. He has stated there would be only one more pope after Benedict, and during his reign comes the end of the world. So Francis could be the last.

The prediction in full is: "In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”

The father of the current pope was Peter, or Pietro, and was from Italy even though the family moved to Argentina.

Wix, your take on the Catholic Church, while not that uncommon among Protestants, is wrong.  The Church is not in a "major decline".  In fact the Church continues to grow worldwide.  Since 1970 the Catholic Church has doubled in size and now has close to 1.3 billion members worldwide.  Catholicism is on the decline in Europe but that is because they are turning away from God, not just from the Catholic Church.  Just look at mostly Protestant UK for a good example of the decline in religiosity.

As for your crack about priests, you do realize that the vast majority of the abuse cases happened decades ago when homosexual men infiltrated the priesthood and have done so much damage from within, right?  Regardless, the incidence of abuse by Catholic priests as a percentage is actually lower than the general population, including those in Protestant ministry. Look it up as there have been a number of very credible studies done on this issue.  No doubt the abuse was horrific and the response of many Bishops was awful at best and criminal at worst.  News flash, any organization composed of sinners is prone to these kind of issues, including Protestant churches.

As for the reformation continuing today, if you mean that we now have 30,000 plus Protestant sects and growing I suppose you are right. If you think that kind of division and differing theology is a good thing then this isn't an issue.  Meanwhile the Catholic Church marches on with unchanged basic tenets of the faith since its creation 2,000 years ago by Christ.  No wonder he prayed for unity knowing what man would do.

There are plenty of reasons to critique Pope Francis without resorting to false narratives and the smearing of hundreds of thousands of faithful priests and consecrated that have given up everything to spread the Gospel and have never and would never abuse children.  We will never rid the world of sin and people will continue to fall short of God's desire for holiness.

Oh he is, homosexuality is ok, abortion is ok, and relax rules against child sexual abusers in the church.  Now that he has those out of the way he can work on immigration into Vatican City and sign that Paris accord he never got around to but had intent.

Pope Francis put his shoulder to the doors of the Catholic Church and shoved them open a little wider Friday, calling for the church to be more tolerant in practice while not changing any official doctrines.

He urged priests around the world to be more accepting of gays and lesbians, divorced Catholics and other people living in what the church considers "irregular" situations.

Pope Francis has extended indefinitely the power of Catholic priests to forgive abortions, making the announcement in an apostolic letter released Monday.

Two people with direct ties to the Vatican tell me that Pope Francis, following the advice of his clubby group of allies in the curia, is pressing to undo the reforms that were instituted by his predecessors John Paul II and Benedict XVI in handling the cases of abuser priests. Francis is pushing ahead with this plan even though the curial officials and cardinals who favor it have already brought more scandal to his papacy by urging him toward lenient treatment of abusers.

I have to agree with you in principle.  I don't think the Catholic Church is in decline any more than any other church.  And I don't think the scandals have really been any worse than some I have heard of in the Protestant Church.  My MIL was a life long Baptist and in her church, the Music Director seduced a 14 year old and the pastor was carrying on an affair with in church member in front of his wife.  That is only one church, but lets just say that humans are tempted by sin, no matter what their religious stripe.

In my years, I have known a lot of priests and nuns, who had a calling and were in fact, very fine people.  Years ago, on a cat forum I belonged to, the brother of one of the members, who was a priest, joined our group and had his own "ministry".  Even non-Catholics sought him out for guidance.  I believe that God placed him there, becasue there was a need among our membership.  We were all quite devastated when he died suddenly of a heart attack, and everyone still remembers him, although it must be 14 years ago.

A lot of Catholics are upset by the more liberal positions taken by Pope Francis.  But to make the Catholic Church out to be worse than other relgions is a mistake.  Let's face it - a lot of churches have "liberalized" their views of homosexuality and divorce, in an attempt to keep up with a societial shift.

I may not agree with the changes that Pope Francis has made, yet, they do pertain to church matters and spiritual leadership.  I just think he is way out of his lane, getting involved in other secular matters.  Someone commented to me on another discussion that "preservation of our planet" is a spiritual matter, but I disagree.  (and we acutually had a civil discussion about it).  And as far as U.S. immigration policy, the Pope is way out of his lane there.  It's not a matter of executing the "dreamers", but rather sending them back to where they would have been if they or their parents had not broken the law to start with.  I don't see it as a "prolife" issue.

Worldwide it isn't declining, it is growing and is projected to be at 1.6B members by 2050.  It and all religions are declining in Europe and the U.S., to a lesser extent.  I just get annoyed at the falsehoods about the Catholic Church that make the rounds.  There is plenty of room for criticism based on reality without all the fake stuff.

My problems with Pope Francis aren't about issues of faith and morals.  He isn't going to change those aspects of the Church.  It's his statements about other issues which as you point out, are out of his lane.  He is a Jesuit and grew up in a socialistic country so it is inevitable that he will lean to the left.  I just ignore him when he spouts off on issues like immigration, climate change, etc.  He has no more authority on these issues than anyone else, and given his statements probably a whole lot less.

Heard a funny line today from some guy who said when people complain to him that having secure borders is un Christian he reminds them that God is a big fan of walls.  He created heaven and they have to let you in and when you get there its impossible to get out and the same goes for hell.  Made me think about both as an eternal wall between the two and the ultimate in border protection.  Kind of funny but true.
