Any of you folks heard of this? A place in Lakeland, Florida serves them and they get rave reviews from the pork lovers. Sliced into individual ribs, seasoned, battered and deep fried. Love to hear from someone who has experience with them. Mack

Take your Lipitor and heart medicine beforehand.
Think they were (or a similar place was) on the Food Network Diners and Dives several months back, at least the place they showed fried everything, even Snickers bars - LOL.

I had never heard of fried turkey,,, or fried pork loin either. But both are dadgum good, and are a welcome break from traditional baking or smoking. And we don't eat fried foods very often. Moderation. Moderation in all things, huh?
Gonna' do the spare ribs. Maybe only once, but we'll see.

you fry um' and I'll try um'....

so I guess it isn't too much of a stretch to fry spare ribs.
I think the funniest things I've heard fried -- fried butter. I guess you can fry anything as long as you freeze it and coat it before you fry.

has been a country staple for years....once a week at my Grandma's house when I was little.

Mmmm. So good, so bad for you. I haven't had a fried pork chop in decades. My grandmother used to make them.

I used babybacks instead, sliced individually, seasoned with Tony's, deep fried at 350*. Served with a baked sweet potato and corn on the cob, both with real BUTTER!!! I rate them lower than the smoked version, but still pretty dang good.
On the subject of foods that are bad for you.... It's kinda' like Politically Correct social terminology. Just wait a few months, and it all changes again. And again, and,,,,,

Did you fry them in Canola oil? Or did you use the dreaded Crisco.
Maybe you are one of the lucky people who don't have problems with their cholesterol or triglycerides, so if you are, fry on!

Nope. Certainly not canola nor Crisco. Actually it was leftover vegetable oil from the last "fry", but there might have been some Crisco in there too. Not sure. Don't really matter. I try not to listen to too many reports from the Health Industry, especially in the dietary area. Suspicious of who funded the study and what results were pre-ordained. As I say, just wait and it will change with the next study.
Moderation. Moderation. That's the answer to many things, including your diet, sex, BudLite, bitching/nagging, politics, religion, sunbathing, television, even thinking too much. Well, maybe not sex.
Hound, sometimes you just bring out the rant in me. But, just moderately.

You are exactly right, Mack.

Mack, I'm sorry that I incite you to riot, either moderately or not. I hope this isn't a carry over from the off topics forum.
My father followed the same philosphy as you have stated. He ended up in the hospital having a triple by-pass, which led to a pace maker and a defibrillator. So I figure I am genetically pre-dispositioned for heart disease. My own cholesterol has rquired my taking medication and my last cholesterol test found me with triglycerides so high I thought I was having a nightmare. so I'm very consious at the moment of the fats I am consuming.
But, as I previously stated, some people never have a problem, and if you are one of those people, by all means everything in moderation is good. I'm not for needlessly suffering.

I took Mack's rant as a friendly rant....'I knew a pilot with bad genetics for cholesterol and heart disease. He was determined to overcome and ate virtually no fat and what most thought was a ridiculously healthy diet. He ran 5-10 miles a day and looked great. At the age of 45, he dropped dead from a heart attack after his morning run. My Take? When your time is up, it's up and something is going to kill everyone. I'm with Mack on moderation and enjoyment of the good things in life, because no matter what I do, something is going to get me sooner or later. Fortunately, my genetics are average or better and my levels stay reasonable if I keep my weight near where it should be for my age and height. Good luck in your fight, and I hope you can get things under control.
