She is kicking butt and doing an outstanding job. I am proud she is a republican and i will proudly vote for the McCain / Palin ticket.

I don't know that I would go so far as to say that she kicked butt, but I thought she did a very credible job. It was a good debate.

I agree that she did a very good job and I think the consensus will be that she "won" the debate for whatever that is really worth. I think that expectations were set so low based on the previous interviews that anything she did to exceed them gives the appearance of winning.

Where I think she stood out in particular was her ability to connect with people and that she talks like the rest of us. Biden has a lot more experience and has command of a lot of facts but at the end of the day he doesn't make the connection. Having said that, I only found myself screaming at the TV to say this or that one time. With Bush it seemed like I was doing it every other question.

One question, did it seem like Ifill (who I think did a credible job.....primarly because of the microscrope she is under with her book) gave Biden the last word many more times than Palin and she cut Palin off a couple of times and never cut Biden off. One thing for sure is Biden LIED multiple times and I can only hope that he gets called on it. For example, Obama absolutely said he would sit down with Achmidinawackjob with preconditions. Biden lied, lied, lied about that and he should not get away with it.

Fred Thompson cited 4 specific lies made by Biden. Biden tells so many lies he probably believes himself by now. Interesting switching between channels seeing all the "Obama spokesmen", aka, ABC,NBC,CBS spin the debate to fit their bosses needs.

I agree that Palin connects well, but I wish she would give up those corny "folksy" expressions. I find them incredibly annoying. "Joe Six Pack"? I mean, does anyone really say that anymore? I thought she played really well to the camera, and into the living rooms of those watching. She didn't change my mind, but I don't think she embarassed herself.

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with Obama being willing to sit down with foreign leaders. I'm sure he doesn't plan on just calling them up on the phone one day and inviting them for coffee. I think that got lost in the debate -- sitting down and talking with someone doesn't necessarily mean that you are going to agree with them or change your policies. This idea that you have to have all these "preconditions" met to talk to other world leaders -- I think that smacks of the kind of elitism that has ruined us overseas. He didn't say he would negotiate with them, he said he would meet with them. Maybe it would do some good if we did some listening for a change. I'd prefer that we not have any more "axis of evil" speeches.

One thing I noted -- everyone wants to argue about who is the better friend to Israel. For reasons I can't get into on this forum, that really gets under my skin. And it's not because I'm an anti-Semite.

She did well at what she tried to do. Unfortunately, what she did not do well was debate, and since this was supposed to be a debate, I wasn't impressed. Not only did she usually not answer the questions, she went so far as to say she wasn't going to answer the questions! And then she would just rattle off some talking points that she had obviously memorized. (And when she did try to answer the questions, she sometimes didn't understand what it was, especially the last one. A hint: when the moderator asks you to list your shortcomings, don't list your qualifications instead; some people might not know the difference.)

No major props to Biden either, though at least he wasn't as disgustingly verbose as usual. Probably good for him that this was the only VP debate; trying to shut up for 90 minutes more might have made his head explode.

All in all, I'm glad that these aren't our presidential choices.

I saw the Fred Thompson breakdown of Biden lies .... it will be interesting if the media calls him out on that. You can be darn sure if Palin lied that would and check the facts on everythings she says so they can do a "gotcha". You never see the same for the dems which shows how liberal and biased the media is.

I did the same switching between channels and it was so comical to hear the views based on which channel you listen to.

Bottomline ... Palin definitely did a great job against someone with many, many more years experience in washington. She called him on many issues and stood up to him on many of his outright lies.

Both Obama and Biden will lie to get elected and try to spin what they said later. Palin was right when she said that McCain has always been a man of his word ... you can definitely trust him.

Obama can not be trusted and he is a dangerous individual with his views and where he where he wants to take this country.

Hint Uncle Sam: When someone asks a politician a question they usually don't answer it directly if at all. Their objective is to get their message across to the people watching and on that note Sarah Palin shined. You see, in a debate you are not actually trying to change the mind of your opponent, you are trying to win. Who won? Sarah Palin. Why? Because people are sick of politicians and actually like someone who is folksy and really does understand us and our issues and doesn't treat us like imbeciles because we didn't go to Harvard or Yale or are an attorney. What a breath of fresh air and a real opportunity for change in the cesspool.

I am not surprised that you spent most of you post criticising Palin on style and all you could come up with on Biden was he was long winded?!?! HOW ABOUT HIS SERIAL LIES? I suppose since you support the Messiah Obama (the alleged change agent), you are all for a liar being one heartbeat away from the presidency. If you want politics as usual with two of the most liberal Senators in Congress, if you want higher taxes, slower economic growth, higher unemployment, more regulation of business, larger and more intrusive federal government, some beauracrat earning $40,000 a year making your health care decisions, surrender to Islamo-fascism and censorship of opposing views then Obama/Biden are the candidates for you. As for me, I will gladly and gratefully take my chances with McCain/Palin.

Heck, after last night I am going to send them another check!

I was just saying the "exact" thing to my wife. I don't care who is debating ... a question is asked, they give a couple words and then say what they want to the american people. They want votes and they want their message heard.

The difference is that when Obama and Biden do that (and Biden did it himself several times last night), the media and the liberals on this board say nothing about it. Then Palin was addressing issues that were very important to the american people and the liberal media like CNN, CBS and MSNBC need to find something to be critical about.

Because she did so well and was commding of facts and did not lie like Biden, the liberal media had nothing to complain about so they start being critical of her style. The more objective media like FOX and CNBC definitely feel she hit it out of the park and are playing clips that show how strong she was and really did have Biden on the defensive ... which is what you want in a debate.

The comments made by Geraldine Ferraro were very interesting to me. I don't remember what channel she was on and she obviously is a Democrat but she just kept going on and on about how well Palin did. They would ask her a question about Biden and she would say sure he did great and then she would go right back to Palin. She mentioned wanting her grandaughter to see her so she would know a woman could make it to that point in politics. It almost sounded like she would vote for them.

I think Palin handled herself wonderfully. She obviously doesn't have the knowledge that Biden has on certain issues but she hasn't been in Washington for years like he has. I thought she was impressive and she certainly didn't embarrass herself or her party.

Palin did well enough that Tina Fay on Saturday Night Live may become unemployed. Palin was in her comfort zone since she was allowed to return to her area of strength..energy even though the answer did not fit the question. Biden missed facts and he will be nailed in the media.

I think her response to expanding the powers of the VP was scary since they are spelled out in the Constitution.

Conservative Christians like James Dobson were tepid about McCain until Palin - who many view as one of theirs - was selected for the ticket. I wonder what the Dobson crew thought of Palin stressing how tolerant she was of same-sex relationships last night. As well as Palin did in the debate, that most important audience of hers, conservative Christians, might have been left a little lukewarm.

I'm not sure she was saying she was in favor of same sex marriages. I think what she was saying that she was tolerant of spousal rights (health care, access to health information, tax breaks) being extended to committed partners. I thought they were both very clear that they do not support gay marriage. It seems to be a fine line.

You are right that Palin does not support the redefinition of marriage (i.e., marriage is between one man and one woman). Biden was a little more confusing in his answer because he stated categorically that both he and Obama were not for the redefintion of marriage but then when you listen to what he said in explanation I think he muddied the water.

I generally hate parsing of words but on this issue I don't believe them. I do believe them when they say they will pull troops out of Iraq regardless of the situation or they will raise taxes and grow the size of government but on the gay marriage issue I think their real view is so toxic that they are hiding the ball. I hope I am wrong.

I believe Biden is a Catholic so it is doubtful that he believes in gay marriage.
I think the gay issue in any form, be it gays in the military, or gay marriage is just one of those issues no one wants to touch.

Catholic in name only. Look, if he believes in abortion which is clearly at odds with Catholic moral teaching then gay marriage would be a gimme. Abortion is THE ISSUE to orthodox Catholics and if he dissents on that one then issues like gay marriage are like round off error. I do not believe his stated position and I think he and Obama are lying through their teeth out of political expediency.
