I feel sorry for those in Texas who are in the path of the flood. I also find it interesting that those in RED states who hate big government turn to it in time of natural disasters for help. Where does the RIGHT think the money comes from? Texas has no state income tax.....may be a state tax to cover the flood would be more in keeping with the "attitude" of Texans.
May be our resident expert MM can explain to me why the Right turns to the hated Government in DC for help? Why not be tough and do it like John Wayne would? "We don't need the damn federal government...we are Texans." Are they entitled to assistance....sure they are as part of ths nation. Yet, they would love to become their own nation. What a joke but then they are a RED sate

If you remove military spending in the state they pay way more than they get and until 2003 even with the military spending they paid more than they got. Regardless, Texas sends hundreds of billions to DC every year so it's only fair they suck some of that back from the giant sucking sound inside the beltway. I say more power to em. And they don't need no stinking state taxes.....it's what makes Texas a perennial economic powerhouse.
Now DC gets about $5 for every dollar they send to the Feds. And they didn't even have a flood.
