California just passed a bill that makes it ILLEGAL to interfer with someone that is shoplifting.  Anyone that interfers in any way with shoplifting, looting, smash and grab, is subject to a significant fine ($1800) and subject to arrest.

NYC just made a settlement on a lawsuit that they will no longer use techniques such as "kettling" or other "harsh" technicques on riotiers.

In the meantime, NYC mayor is crying that migrants will ruin NYC and how unfair that is.  He's getting a deaf ear from Washington on getting federal money to deal with the problem.

I don't think this is correct. What is your source? I can't find any bill signed like you describe.

Although I don't think it is a law in CA yet but it has passed the Senate.  The thing about this law, other than it is abysmally stupid, is that it only going to accelerate the departure of left wing idiots from CA to a sane state where they will commence to vote for the same moronic politicians.  They are parasites, the lot of them.

A workplace safety bill, which originally aimed to stop employers requiring workers to tackle shoplifters, is headed for a decisive vote after the controversial plan was "dropped".

This was dropped.

Senate Bill 553, passed by the state's upper house in June, had proposed a ban on employers requiring non-security employees to confront "active shooters or suspected shoplifters," sparking local protests from some business owners.

So here is what you initially stated, "I don't think this is correct. What is your source? I can't find any bill signed like you describe."   Now all of the sudden you did find the bill and you did agree with my fact that it was passed by the leftist morons in CA Senate.  We already had the facts as Phil included with his link to the Newsweek article.  And as I stated, I did not think it was signed into law.....but it was passed by the Senate with all necessary signatures and yes votes.

Goofy, why the double down on ignorance and acting like you are the one with truth?  It just makes you look silly.

Is there any doubt in your mind that Newsom will sign it?  Newsom seems to believe that shoplifting is fine.  I see numerous videos of shoplifting crimes and no one is approaching them.... and the shoplifters just wave and wish them a nice day.

Is there anyone that doesn't think California is a basket case?

Goofy, I read the article on one of those websites that gathers articles from all over and all sources.

If you have not seen it - I love this video of shop keepers who got fed up.

Crook just heads behind counter with a trash can to steal smokes, gets his butt handed to him.  There were rumors they were going to charge the shop keepers, but that quickly got squashed because the public is getting tired of crooks having a better set or laws.

Police are available to investigate after the crime happens, and often never catch the crooks.  I had a kid in my neighborhood once beating his girlfriend, I told him to stop from the road, and he threatened me.  Had my son go and get a gun and called the cops told them I was in the road armed and that he had threatened me while beating his GF - 10 cars showed up, after close to 20 minutes.  Best I can figure they were hoping I would shoot him because they were always being called to that house.  He ran off when he heard the sirens.
