13 Apr 2011 - Lake Guntersville Fishing Reports – Today, I was joined by a Josh and three of his co-workers from Little Rock Arkansas. Water temps are holding at 66.5 to 73 degrees depending on which cove you are in. The best action again today, was around grass, stumps and lay downs in four feet or less of water. The guys boated over 50 fish for the day, with several good fish in the 2-3 pound range and one in the 4 pound range being taken. Their best fish broke off at the boat looked to be in the 5-6 pound range. The key factor simply remains being in the right place at the right time with the right presentation. Our better fish came on wacky rigged senko’s and football head jigs by Tightline Jigs on secondary points in the coves, check for a spinner bait and buzz bait bite every stop, we caught a few fish blow up on a spook but no real takers. Over the next week or so there will be a mass move to spawn. As that progresses watch for an all out top water assault and for the shad spawn at the beginning of May.
With forecasted high temps of 75-80 degrees, the fishing is only going to get better on both Guntersville and Nickajack in the coming weeks with both lakes showing signs of a all out fish producing April and May! I have few days left in for this weekend and next week after that it’s May before I have anything open, I'm already booking days for the May and June, make your reservations now for some great late spring time action on Guntersville and Nickajack. It won't be long and we'll see the steady spinner bait and top water bite on both lakes "Let's go fish' in"
