Because of higher fuel cost in 2008, Alabama's Public Service Commission granted APC a significant rate increase. TVA also announced a simillar rate increase for its customers.

Recently, TVA has announced another rate decrease***

Tennessee Valley Authority to reduce electric service rates again on July 1
Posted by Associated Press May 15, 2009 11:53 AM
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Valley Authority will trim electric rates again on July 1, effectively erasing a huge rate boost approved last year to offset rising fuel costs.

The latest reduction will mean a 4.1 percent drop in wholesale power charges to TVA distributors serving some 8.7 million consumers in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. In metro Birmingham, the cities of Bessemer and Tarrant buy TVA electricty for their municipal distribution systems.

It will mean a savings of $2 to $5 a month for residential customers, who are now paying around $93 a month for 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity.

This will be the third reduction in TVA's fuel adjustment charge in as many fiscal quarters. It marks the last step in removing the portion of a 20 percent rate increase last year blamed on escalating fuel costs.

My question is this - Why has APC not also done the same thing for its customers as TVA did? As I recall, the rate increase approved was app. 8%. APC's fuel cost have not followed the paths projected to the Public Service Commission.

...good question! How do we get APC to respond? Perhaps SLISA could add this to their "To Do for the Lake" list.

Yeah, GOOD LUCK trying to get slisa to do anything that's not going to benefit their pocketbook!

What do electrical rate increases granted by the APSC have to do with SLISA? The issue is that TVA is decreasing rates and APC is not.
