Feel free to move on, but one may wonder why they run a professional tourney here. Looks like they did fine....

Hmmmm, maybe it’s a talent thing. The good thing is the water sure is great isn’t it?

Oh is definitely a talent thing. Apparently I have none. Lol. At this lake anyway. If only I didn’t live on smith lake I would move on. Lol. Is great for recreation though. Was just frustrated as hell when posted last. I just don’t understand why can catch fish anywhere but where I live. At guntersville they damn near jump in your boat...but at smith lake nothing. Very very frustrating. Have been determined... So have been fishing at least 3 to 4 times per week at least 2 to 4 hrs per trip...and NOTHING. I did get a blue cat on a shaky head green pumpkin blue yesterday but that was it...and that was an accident. I am very aware the pros do well here....and everyone says they catch here...but have had several come with me to “show” me...they got skunked too. All I know is I suck at fishing here and wish I didn’t.

Well damn...was hoping you would have responded by now. Don’t think you can but would love to be proven wrong. 20 bucks per bass you can put in the boat. Nothing would make me happier than to be wrong and pay you. I just don’t know how to catch fish in water as clear as bath water and 300ft deep. Show me bud. P l e a s e.

Sorry man I was just monkeying around. I am more of a skier and don’t fish on Smith, but I do love the lake and hope the lack of runoff management doesn’t taint the lake because it is too pretty for that to be allowed. I reside full time in the Panhandle of Florida and can put you on some red fish though. I tend to fish from a paddleboard down here though. Good luck figuring it out.

By my tag name you can tell I'm no pro but I do catch fish here. I'm on Ryan Creek near Big Bridge and it's a tough lake to be consistent and definitely difficult for youngsters with limited patience. I have my best luck with a green watermelon finesse worm on a 3/16" black shaky head. Early morning along banks in 8-12' water or near submerged tree tops. March,April, May is by far the best time to fish, you can catch them then on rattle traps or shad color Rapalas. June, July, August its a desert in the daytime. Almost impossible to catch anything except at night and I really don't like night fishing. In the spring and fall if you see them hitting shad schools on top, casting a top water plug that you can throw a long way can be fun too. But good luck catching a limit, even the pros get skunked here at times.
