We noticed a slight odor/taste change in the water at Kowaliga Restaurant last weekend. Then, when we tried the water at our lake house, noticed the exact same odor/taste. Anyone notice this? Has CEWA changed their chemicals?

Having the same issue on Alex City side of the lake. All neighbors have called the Mayors office. They flushed lines still have the issue. Cannot drink water due to the unusual taste. Started noticing about 2 months ago, taste is so strong do not even use the water to make tea.

Doesn't seem to be a problem at our place in Parker Creek. We are on Parker Creek Water Company, but I think our water comes from Rockford. I guess there is some advantage to paying Terry his monthly fee......

I would investigate as to whether there has been work on any water mains. If the odor is chlorine, it may be due to over-chlorination. I always recommend a water filtration system, even for "safe" water. especially for drinking & cooking. A reverse osmosis system is the best. If it is simply due to minerals in the water source, get a charcoal filter system. Go to Lowe's and buy Purtest White Water Teat Kit ($26.50). If there is staining after clothes washing it may be excessive iron or magnesium. Water purveyors are required to be tested (but not every day). It probably is just a nuisance, but it deserves a looking into with this many complaints.

Had dinner at another location tonight. Exact same odor/taste in water. Definitely not chlorine. Tastes more like mold. Guess cheap bottled water is definitely in order.

Alex city water is like this every year. Put some in a glass and set it on the counter and let it evaporate and look what is in the bottom of the glass. You can also take a ice cube from your ice maker and put it in a saucer and let it evaporate look at what it leaves on the saucer.

We have Walnut Hill Water and it also has a moldy taste. I have not been here in 2 weeks, but definitely noticed the difference. We are off Bama Park Road, near Indian Shores. Any other reports from the south side of Blue Creek?

For over a month our tap water has smelled like stale bleach
and dirt. Really nasty. I saw them opening the fire hydrants in the
area but it has not helped. The taste makes it not drinkable. If
you find out anything please let us know.

We are on the east side of Hwy 49 bridge and our water tastes really bad, too. I bought a Pur water pitcher and it has helped.

We had a similar situation in the past after we built in a new subdivision. There were few houses in the subdivision and we were toward the end on the water line. Seems microorganisms die off in stagnant water pipes in warm weather when the flow rate in the pipe is low. Such could be the case in the normal slow down of visitors on the lake. All water authorities around the lake, with the possible exception of Parker Creek, get their water from either Alex City or Elmore County systems which get water from Lake Martin, and the lake seems to have had a high level of algae this year. Dying microorganisms may be the source of the stink. Call your water company and tell them they need to drain their pipes in your area.
