Tis the season of the Peach.
Post yours and I'll post mine. Not a pie, but a Cobbler, right?

Best peach recipe:

Go up Hwy 82 from Montgomery toward Tuscaloosa
Just into Chilton County you come to County Road 15
At the Harrison fruit stand there purchase a basket of peaches
When home wash a peach, split it open, remove seed, eat

I think I will have one right now.

Actually you are 350 miles from the best peaches that are in Perry GA. The Elbertas are coming in now and they smoke the Chiltons.

Blah, blah, blah, Nothing like a peach state guy to say his our better than Chilton county peaches. Lets just say Rude is a GA guy as well and he stops whenever he can and loads up the truck with Chilton County peaches, never once has he ever mentioned a GA peach.

Peachy pancakes with strawberry butter.  Use your favorite pancake batter.  Just before you turn the pancakes put
a layer of thinly slice peaches on each pancake and flip.  Cook as usual.  Top with strawberry butter which is softened butter and mashed strawberries mixed, formed into a roll using plastic wrap and chilled until firm. MMMM!

Like our president says he just needs a little "education" on the subject :-) When I was a kid my mother used to work for the Northside News and they put on an annual formal breakfast for all the Buckhead bigwigs called Sausagia. The subject of the meeting was sausage. The never ending debate was which was the superior sausage; the link or the patty. Maybe we could start something like that in this area between the Elberta and the Chilton.

OK, nobody interested. So go buy a frozen one at Publix.

But a comment on getting good, fresh peaches at all. IMHO large growers are picking early(green) and shipping in mass to North Dakota, or Canada, or Minnesota, where peach eaters experience a delightful peach that looks great, but tastes like a piece of flavored cardboard, very much like our Winter peaches. IMHO.
I no longer visit Peach Parks, or larger markets to buy peaches. I'll take a roadside stand, as LNG states, where I can believe the peaches come from a small grower who has not signed a contract for next year with a conglomerate for the prime and the culls for the locals.
So There!!
