I saw that article and I am totally perplexed how they managed to clear him.  Particularly when he was on the internet talking about wanting to kill a lot of people and talking about malitove cocktails.  This guy was a total wack. The clearance system is broken.  Right before I retired, I had to have my clearnce re-upped, and I noticed that they were using contractors for that work.  They probably get paid by the interview, and it probably doesn't matter much to them.  The lady that interviewed me seemed much more interested in my house than she was interested in my answers.  

Of course, being the govenrment, they will now have a knee jerk reaction and it will become much, much more difficult to get a clearnace at the TS/SCI level no matter how clean you are.
