Thanks for your helpful suggestion. I looked up the starter solenoid and found that it was built with a flaw that allowed moisture to get into the unit and corrode the contact points. The new unit is molded together and therefore sealed. On-line - $14 including shipping. The only problem was removing the lower bolt that I could not see and could only get a finger tip on it. To install the new unit I cut the lower lug so the bolt hole could be slotted so the bolt could be put on first and then slide the unit into place and just tighten the bolt.
I'm now ready for summer. I don't post much but keep up the good work on the "Off-Topic" forum.
