I have to say I was wrong,  my problem was not prop shaft seals but seals under the pump ...as THE CAT said it probably was.I took the bottom end of my outboard to CAT and probably drove past 15 marine repair facilities to go to him since I lve in Bham. 
It was nice to meet him and he treats you as he has known you for a long time and personally took time with my small job to actually show me where my leaks were. It is good to go to a marine repair shop at this time of the year that doesn't act like they are doing you a favor by doing your repair.  Again Cat you were right ...as always.  John
