We have seen bow fishermen out there shooting them. They have bright lights all around the sides and front.
This is a comment on a news article:
Released from the LHA:
If you have other concerns about all the dead carp in the lake, Brent Hess with the Georgia DNR said he can be contacted at 706-845-4180 and he would be happy to answer your questions.

Several of you have questioned if the chemicals used to kill the hydrilla might be playing a part in this. The DNR Fisheries Biologists were asked if this might be the case. They said it wasn't the chemicals because if it were then we would have started seeing the smaller edible fish dying first.

The DNR was on the lake last Friday and Monday testing. They caught several carp Monday and took them to Auburn University for further testing.

We have found a couple of similar situations over the years at other lakes in which:

(1) Wildlife officials suspect a carp-specific virus or disease is to blame because no other species of dead fish have washed up on shore.

(2) State officials insist that the 800 dead carp counted on Conneaut Lake is a consequence of spawning stress -- a natural phenomenon -- and is unrelated to the herbicide applied to control weeds there.
