I hate to get involved in this post, but I have nothing else to do right now. Do we need a power boat club? Probably not! Will it serve as an enhancement?....Yea, just look at Russell Marine's, Anchor Bays and the other marina's deposit slips for fuel sold! I am sure they are happy to see Hot Boats pull up to the gas dock and pump out 200 gallons at $2.70 per gallon. (thats over $500.00 per boat). While we are there, we need ice, beverages and enough supplies to get us to Chucks Marina for great pizza, food and fun. (spending more money, it's called economic growth, if we had a club, they would probably reserve us the entire bar and restaurant). Now, for tranquility issues, Power boats don't do much for that at all. We like loud stereos, loud engines (Mercury Marine spends millions in research on powerful engines, and that filters down to all of us, even your puny little quite outboard). I was told that the recent poker run provided over $10,000 in cash for the local Lions Club. Involved were power boats, pontoon boats, personal watercraft (dont think a sail boat would be done with the run by now) all playing together. Some of us ran the poker run at fast speeds, others slow speeds, but we all played well together. (We learned that in kindergarden) Thats the way it should be. Most Powerboat owners spend countless dollars on the best safety equipment, steering systems, navagations aids and not to mention strict satety and maintainance schedules. (Again, we learned in high school/college, work hard, buy fast boats.....again, dollars = economics) Sorry for a long post, but... that's the way i see it. Bling it on! I'll join the club.
