I thought they were supposed to follow the new rule curve. I guess it doesn't matter if we reach full pool.

Where do you get this info? I was just at my lake house and it was still rising ... and rather quickly. I was hoping for close to 484 by weeks end.

Yeah, we were too. Alabama Power website. They've just doubled up on Harris's releases for tomorrow. Time to generate obviously..

I just looked on the APCO website and they have a bunch of releases (turbine operation events) schedueld for Harris over the next 3 days but none for Martin. I think its a good thing when there are releases from Harris and not Martin as we are downstream and benefit from the extra water. Right now we are slightly above the curve but Harris is 2 feet above winter pool. Another question is whether once we reach 483 will they leave it there until early March when we catch up to the rule curve. I hope they would just let it keep rising but maybe that's wishful thinking. The variance allows them to be at 483 and we will be there by tomorrow.

They had multiple releases of 4 turbines each but they've just erased it all. It showed it for about an hour. Wonder why. Must have been an AP error.

He isn't crazy. I saw the releases too. 2 and 4 turbines several times and 6 one time. Maybe they were just messing with us.
|
If you saw a #6 turbine it was definitlely an error. Martin only has 4 turbines.

I saw the same thing. They had 2 - 4 turbines scheduled for 11 hours starting at 6AM and running until 11PM. Then the schedule went back to zero flow for tomorrow. What is up with that??

Thanks you guys for backing me up. Also, I thought I was seeing it wrong ,so I triple checked it and kept coming up with the same mega-releases. I guess they're torturing us... lol

They've been releasing a fair amount since they reached their variance approved 787 pool level over a week ago. Keep an eye on that level for an indication on effect on current Martin filling. The management of Martin and Harris dam releases during this winter has not been normal by any means. They've done a terrific job filling these reservoirs during a drought.

Yea! What great news! I just got back from Vegas and Lake Mead is 100 ft low! It was unbelievable! What a pretty lake though. The people at the Callville Bay Marina are so nice, if you are ever that way and want to check out the lake.

My bad. I read the thread rather quickley earlier and thought that part was referring to Martin. I need to get up and take a tour of Harris. I didn't realize they had 6 generators. That is a lot of capacity,

You can't give APCO any praise here, it doesn't set well with a LOT of folks. You should have been around last year when I was the lone APCO supporter for what they managed to do with what they had to work with last summer. There were several folks here who thought they could do a better job and that the water sent down for the dredge was the crime of the century.

From the information I have on Harris, they only have 2 generators. Now Lay, on the other hand, has 6, and they have been running all 6 at various times throughout the weekend. Apparently there is an abundance of water on the Coosa chain. According to the Alabama Power site they had opened the spillway gates on the 22nd on both Mitchell and Jordan.
