I remember sitting in a classroom at the University of Georgia in the '50s and hearing the prof rail on about "the drunken surveyor" who set the boundary line with Tennessee incorrectly long, long ago. Apparently there is a valid basis underneath the proposed GA resolution, but the chances of changing a state boundary NOW are slim and none! GA needs to do a much better job of longrange planning for growth--and Alabama better watch out or we will be the ones to suffer from their bad planning!

GA attempted to revise the TN border in 1887 which failed. There are border errors all over the USofA, I recall that Memphis is really supposed to be in MS. I think changing State borders requires all 50 States to agree. Not gonna happen.

I live in Chattanooga just south of the TN river, less than a mile from the GA border, and I don't want to be a Georgia resident!!!

Would you allow GA to draw water from the TN River in exchange for GA providing a metro line between their inner city of Atlanta and Chattanooga?

This is one proposal I have heard of, and it would destroy your community in Chattanooga. They take your water and allow their inner city trash (low-lifes) to infiltrate your community in exchange. Your car jackings, drug problems and etc. would surey escalate while your water level goes down.

I believe a newspaper article on this proposal was in yesterday's Washington Post.

Talking about a no-win situaton for TN and Chattanooga.
