Subject:   Obama wrong on ebola in a mere 2 weeks
Date:   10/3/2014 9:42:20 AM

Keeping his track record going of being wrong on just about everything, a mere two weeks after he assured the American people that there was no chance ebola could come here it has arrived.  Yep, we can cut off flights to Israel but not to western Africa countries in the grips of this deadly disease.  And to think we rely on the honesty of travelers coming here to stay illegally about their exposure to this deadly virus.  I don't know about you but I am very skeptical about what our government is saying about this and either they are lying to us or are so imcompetent that they simply don't know what they are doing.  And that is the optimistic viewpoint.

But more to the point, dear leader has been wrong about almost everything.  This is simply the latest version of incompetence on parade and proof positive why left wing nuts simply cannot be trusted with positions of authority.  Whether it is stupidity, malfeasance, incompetence or evil intent it does not matter.  They simply do not operate in the real world and believe with all their hearts and minds (such as they are) things that are simply incorrect or untrue.  And yet no amount of facts, logic or reason can penetrate their ideological blindness driven by the consuming desire for power and wealth.  Is it November yet?

When did he buy his ticket?  News reports say he had a travel visa in place so lets stipulate to that.  I have no idea what the procedure and time frame to aquire a travel visa is but that is not the question.  Just "days" before the flight he and several others helped the pregnant lady try to get to a hospital by carrying her in a taxi to every hospital available and all turned her down.  They had to use a taxi because the neighborhood is so riddled with infection ambulances wont even go there.  The lady and and all the other guys that helped tote her in and out subsquently died before he came here.  We know he lied about the contact.  When and how was the ticket aquired?

The timeline doesn't add up to me.  All the other guys had time to get sick and die after helping the lady but patient ZERO was assymptamatic before during and for several days after the flight?  One of those things that make me go hmmm.

Of course now that his home country has announced their intentions to prosecute him for lying we can rest assured he will be given 'refugee' status and will never have to return home to the persecution of prosecution.  It will also set the precedent for all future travelers, er I mean refugess, to get permanent residence here, and of course they will have to have housing, healthcare, etc. etc.

This may be the crisis that grows large enough for Marshall Law to be declared nationwide.  Yes, I am a conspiracy theorist that beleives that is the master plan.  It is the only way the population can be totally controlled as some need it to be to fullfill their agenda.

My sister got in from Germany last night.   She said that Customs was worse than usual with people coming in from Africa being questioned intently about their exposure to illness.  Remember about 10 years ago we went through something similar with Asians coming in with that respiratory SARS that they were eventually able to screen for.  I don't have much faith about people being honest about their own, or exposure to illness.  They want to get here so they can get treated.  My view is that we should have a temporary moritorium on flights coming from those African countries.  Right now they are saying that you can't get Ebola unless you are directly exposed to bodily fluids of someone who is infected, but given the cattle call that air travel is these days, why take a chance?

I don't blame this Administration for EBOLA any more than I blamed the Bush Administration for SARS.  But once again this raises the point that this country does  not  have adequate policies and controls in place to deal with these situations.   Just the panic alone could overwhelm our medical infrastructure and if there really was a major crisis, what could be done?

No one is blaming him for ebola.  I am merely pointing that two weeks ago he assured the American people that it wasn't coming here.  He was wrong on this issue like he has been wrong on almost everything else.  But you hit on a very valid point.  When we had the SARS scare there was a pretty strong reaction of the government and it was contained.  So far all we have gotten are vague assurances that are quickly refuted by the facts as they trickle out.  And no action as best I can tell to prevent this from happening again.

And ebola is far more deadly than SARS which was a threat mostly to the elderly and young children.  Ebola can kill healthy adults and there is no cure.  And if it is so hard to contract as they keep telling us I have to wonder how the NBC cameraman was exposed.  Was he just running around in a country filled with dying ebola patients and exchanging bodily fluids?  Why do I doubt that unless he had a death wish?  If you take comfort in the assurances coming from this administration and the CDC given how wrong they have been, have at it.  I plan to be a bit more skeptical.

And now we hear that another person in DC may also have ebola.  If true, I suspect they will finally wake up and do something if only to save their own miserable hides.

I'm skeptical.  We live in a global environment and people travel.  It's unreasonable to think that an outbreak of a serious illness anywhere in the world would not reach our shores.  You recall, in the beginnng of SARS, no one was sure about it either.  As it turned out, as you correctly point out, it mostly affected the elderly and children.  We found a way to screen for it, and the Asian countries were instrumental in keeping it contained by doing the screening.  We're not there yet on Ebola and I have my doubts about African countries being able to adequately screen for it, even if such a thing existed.

Speaking of Ebola - did you ever read the book "The Hot Zone"?  True story about an Ebola break out years ago in suburban VA.

I think you and I agree on the issue of ebola but the fact is that our dear leader a scant two weeks ago said it could not get here.  Its here. he was wrong as he is always wrong on pretty much everything.  Now they tell us its hard to transmit.  Yet all evidence seems to be contrary to that.  And so on.  You can trust what they say or you can look at the facts and come to your own conclusion.  I prefer the latter  approach because I can't keep up with the lies.

But here's another way of looking at it from a risk management standpoint.  I would agree that there is probably no way to be 100% certain it doesn't get here.  Does that mean we do nothing?  Of course not.  Risk management means eliminating those risks that can be eliminated, reduce risks that can be reduced and deal with what is left over.  We should prohibit anyone that travels from these western Africa countries from enterning the U.S. unless they are willing to undergo and pay for a 3-week quarantine.  There isn't much we can do about those coming here illegally across the borders but it is a dereliction of their moral responsibility to not do what they can.  One has to ask why they will not.  I maintain it is to protect dear leader from criticism, further erosion of his poll numbers and any additional negative reaction to the coming illegal executive order giving millions of illegals amnesty.  Yep, I am that cynical with this administration that gave us Fast and Furious, IRS, DHS, Secret Service, etc.

On the issue of Ebola in Virginia, if I recall correctly that was confined to monkeys in some quaratine facility and a couple of the workers died but not from ebola.  It was contained because they were quaratined which goes to may argument about anyone that has traveled to any of these countries that have outbreaks.  To get into the US they should submit to and pay for a 3-week quarantine.  But our government will do nothing this sesnisble until it hits DC and Virginia.  You watch.

I think you and I are in agreement.  Watching the press conference.  No real answers.  To paraphrase Rumsfelt "there is the stuff that we know, we know; there is the stuff we know that we don't know, and then there is the stuff that we don't know we don't know".

Yes, you are right about the book.  Monkeys.  But had it not been cleaned up, it could have been a disaster.
