Tomorrow I'm coming down to the lake this year from TN as I've done for decades and I'm wondering if I should bother trailering my boat for a 500 mile round trip? It's a small 17ft w/outboard engine. Aside from the fact that boats can't be tied to their piers, is general navigation fairly safe?

And I agree with all that say if a low lake level is the worst of your problems then you're blessed!

Go ahead and bring your boat. The lake is low, but as long as you stay in the big water and are careful, you shouldn't have any problems. If you search this forum, you can find plenty of good advice on how to handle the low water levels.

I just got home from a day on the lake and yes contrary to what you read on the forum there is plenty of water and much fun to be had!!! The water temp was great and there were plenty of folks out enjoying a great day. One thing I did notice is the nice sandy beaches on several of the islands. The lake can be navigated with ease year round. I think it ought to be a rule that folks ride it when it is low to learn where the hazards are. I am sure you will enjoy your trip and maybe learn a little more about the stuff that lurks just below the surface. Have a great time
