President gave a horrible speech to the Boy Scouts. at their annual meeting. Invited cabinets member who were scouts except Sessions who was an Eagle Scout. Pathetic,pathetic......
"In one aside during remarks to the National Scout Jamboree in Glen Jean, W.V., the president asked, "Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I'm in front of the Boy Scouts?" Yet he launched into an extended a critique of Washington politics.
That included jibes at senators in his own party -- including by name the home state senator, Shelley Moore Capito -- who have balked at ending the Affordable Care Act and replacing it with a still uncertain plan that would cut hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid.
"I go to Washington and I see all these politicians, and I see the swamp. In fact it's not a good place -- we should change it from the swamp to the cesspool or perhaps use the word sewer," he said."
The footage I saw showed enthusiatic Scouts very happy that the President took the time to acknowlege their contributions to the country and upholding traditional American values. I bet they felt very fortunate.
Presidents always go to Jamborees. Long tradition, and the applause was sure loud and long. What better time to influence young men and maybe save them from wearing panties and eating cupcakes for life.
So as usual, some liberal parents were upset at his speech, and wished they could have sheltered their dear children from hearing conservative ideas.
Trump has already shown he is not going to give pretty, inspiring speeches. He's going to call it as he sees it. Apparently, he was well received by the Boy Scouts and a day that they will not forget - a speech by the President of the United States.! I'm sure those liberal parents will be dragging their kids for a long session with a therapist, and maybe even a trip to the hypnotist to rid there little minds of anything they heard.
“A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”
Standing in front of thousands of Boy Scouts, Donald Trump's flaws stand out in stark contrast to the ethics that the Scouts represent. At that moment it couldn't be more clear what this fellow is about..... and his lack of some pretty important values, IMO.
There he was…. extolling the virtues of loyalty when the only Eagle Scout on his Cabinet was specifically not invited to appear with him… because he is currently trying to humiliate the fellow into resigning so he can replace the Attorney General with someone who will do his bidding and stop the Mueller investigation. That’s an incredible example of backstabbing even for Trump, publically bashing the very first & most dedicated Senator to support his candidacy solely because Jeff Sessions placed higher importance on his legal ethics than Trump’s demands that he compromise all to protect him personally.
A few Trump quotes from his speech to these young people: "As the Scout Law says: 'A Scout is trustworthy, loyal' -- we could use some more loyalty, I will tell you that." He was taking a shot at Jeff Sessions, the lone Eagle Scout of his cabinet, after tweeting in recent days that he was “beleaguered” & “weak”.
"I said, 'Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I'm in front of the Boy Scouts?' Right?"
Trump, apparently. He spent the VAST majority of this speech jabbing at his political foes and recounting his 2016 successes.
"He better get them. Oh, he better -- otherwise, I'll say, 'Tom, you're fired.' I'll get somebody."
This "joke" was directed at Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price who was, awkwardly, standing on stage next to Trump. It came amid Trump's public effort to force Sessions to resign and less than a week after Trump threatened Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nevada, on health care.
There has never been a more powerful contrast…. Donald Trump standing in front of 40,000 Boy Scouts who are taught to see the President as a role model, using his time to be just as threatening, small minded and self-absorbed as ever…. This was an incredible side by side comparison of Trump’s ethics and the ethical teaching of the Scouts. Brag about yourself. Slay your enemies.
Surely more people reading this forum are concerned about Trump’s behavior than are actually willing to speak up and say so publically. Is he really the role model you want for the kids?
Sure glad you clarified the fact that o-BAMMIE refused to follow the long tradition of Presidents honoring the Scouts at their Jamboree. I guess there were no illegals or minorities or LGBTQUEERS attending to catch his attention.
And, Trump may be embarrassing at times with his "New Yorker" personality and approach, but then I've never met a NY'er that I thought was fully human......

Better then our past 8 years of Obama. Ill put those two red lines up side by side any day of the week.
Obama red line - well just cross it no big deal, I promised action but will never deliver. Hillary to Chelsea - Oh it was terrorism, to the world - Oh it was a Utube video and we put him in jail. Boyscouts - aint got time, so heres a video and you need to let in not only openly gay members but leaders as well so that they can teach leadership skills to kids in the woods.
Trump - here is 50 tomahawk missles at your base, oh and a MOAB for you too. Well obviosuly you see where he was, and the scouts boo'd Obama and applauded trump, but I guess that was probably all the RNC running through the crowds with Applause/Boo light up boxes to let them know what to think like the late time TV shows.
Airline pilot shares letter of resignation he sent to BSA - oh woops those resignations were back in 2013 when Obama was pushing the gays into scouts / scout master positions.
Reading your hardy endorsement of Trump's character as a role model for the Scouts reminds us all that Charles Manson & Jeffery Dahmer had parents, too.
Wow and with your psychology degree you were able to come up with children come from parents all by yourself... that is the most headline news item I have seen all day.
So you were a parent of Dahmer or Manson, or possibly both? That would explain a lot, why you decided to work in the mental health profession and have retired your ethics.
If you were one of the parents of a 14 year old scout, would you tell your kid it was an appropriate speech or sign them up for therapy? Your post certainly leaves the impression that only liberal parents would have a problem. And, you ain't exactly liberal these days.
It is instructive of where we have sunk when a bunch of bigots defends a lying, egomanical idiot, who was never a boy scout, for using inflammatory oratory to bring a group of young boys to angry boos of a man who was. Trump does not even know the meaning of ''trustworthy, loyal, courteous or reverent''! This sounded more appropriate for an address to the Hitler Jungend than the Boy Scouts of America!! Disgusted again...wake up, this is a dangerous and mentally unstable man who is destroying this great nation. Copperline ends his post with a question each one of you needs to look in the mirror and answer...'is this somebody you want to hold up as an example and role model to your children and grandchildren, especially your daughters and grandaughters?

Again I will repeat *MY* children cringed under Obama, 8 years of bowing, Muslims to the front of the line, Anti Christian, force gays/trans into school bathrooms, boyscouts, military and regulations that shackled the economy. Obviously you can keep your doctor, Obviosuly you can keep your plan, obviosuly you can pay more for energy.
My Children do not need therapy because of a President - Good or bad. We saw what 8 years of Obama has done to divide this nation, We see what the media with its tingles up its leg did to not investigate anything that the Obama administration did because that would be racist.
We undestand that the media is not happy and no longer has tingles, it never should have to start with.
You and the D's have three arguments that you love to spew - do it for the children, thats racist and thats sexist, the one you always seem to miss is what is good for America, Clinton got it long time ago - its the economy stupid. Jobs are going up, employment is going up, illegal immigration is going down, welfare is going down, rule of law is back from 8 years of well I dont agree with this one so we are not going to inforce it.
Go blow it out your pink vag hat and have a session with CrapperTime - he apparently still likes to practice while retired and no longer has standards so you two can get together and have a whine session.
I'm really middle of the road. I didn't think the speech was necessairly appropriate for the group. But I thought the parents "angry" reaction was overstated. i think it benefits kids to learn from an early age that poeple have different perspectives - not necessarily wrong, but different from what their household believes, and to be exposed to other idears so they can learn to think for themselves.
I think it would have been great if Trump had given a speech about how scouting helps preapare you to be a leader, self sufficient and not dependent on the government to provide every need you will have in life. But, it was his chocie not to give that speech - he is the President of the United States, and he gets to say what he wants, where he wants. So I don't think "anger" is the appropirate response.
And my answer to that is "yes". He became a very wealthy man through his ability to build a successful company, he ran for President and was duly elective (sorry Democrates), and by all accounts, he has promoted women who deserved to be promoted. But I would also tell them that he is a human being with all the same faults and quirks as anyone else. I don't have to like his style, his twitter feed, his speeches, or where he vacations - but he still has some traits that are worthy of respect. No one is perfect.
And I could say the same things about Obama. It seems that as soon as he left office, he has been elevated to "saint" status, or at least put on the same pedestal with Nelson Mandela. But he did not accomplish much in his 8 years, he got involved in issues that really weren't his business, as President and he widened the gap between the races in this country.
There are some things to respect about everyone, and somethings that are failings.

“I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree,” Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh wrote in a letter to the organization. “That was never our intent.”
“For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters,” Surbaugh added. “We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program.”
Trump supporters told themselves (and everyone else) that Trump would become "more Presidential" after the election. Apparently acknowledging that this transformation isn't going to happen.... they have changed their position to "it doesn't matter anyway".
On related matters, after only 72 hours as the new White House Communications Director, Mini-me Scaramucchi has turned the entire administrative operation into a reality TV show... publically clawing his way thru Reince Priebus' just like on The Apprentice... while Trump continues his efforts to humiliate Jeff Sessions until he resigns. The military brass is now on notice that major policy changes may come in the morning Twitter feed, and the GOP is desparately trying to sabotage the health care system in spite of dire warnings from the healthcare insurance industry.
You folks have been played. It's time to reconsider your dedication to the idea of "disrupting" the nation. Maybe you should start by acknowledging that Trump has diminished the Office of the President badly.
Still going to take a long time to get worse the BHO.
Scouts have been going away from their beliefs/motto for a long time. There is a reason why scout numbers started dropping under Obama, and that many churchs were no longer affialiated.
Oh and you forgot to mention Hitler youth rally - the DNC must really be falling down with your faxes.
You are just pissed that the boo'd at the right time showing they are not mindless liberals.
The knew what they were getting, sent out guidence
"You can help make the president's visit a success by ensuring that any reactions to the president's address are, as we state in our Scout Law, friendly, courteous, and kind," the guidance said. "This includes understanding that chants of certain phrases heard during the campaign (e.g. 'build the wall,' 'lock her up') are considered divisive by many members of our audience, and may cause unnecessary friction between individuals and units
Stephenson, who was not in attendance at Trump's speech, said the guidance wasn't followed impeccably.
"There were some areas where perhaps they were not in compliance with what we instructed," he said. "There's probably criticism that could be leveled.
