Somehow magically the number of deaths from the ordinary flu have fallen off a cliff some numerous previous years. Let me save you the trouble of thinking about this.....they are counting flu deaths as Wuhan virus deaths. This is not a coincidence. Combine that with the number of deaths from heart attack and stroke have likwise dropped off a cliff. I'm telling you folks, they are counting as Wuhan virus deaths mortality from other causes.

Every corona death is paid for. Amazing how that works. Then the Stanford study released lat Thursday shows the death rate at .12%
the left has attacked over a Stanford research project, lol.
desperate times brings out the nastiness in folks! The gig is up folks, depression is around the corner if decision-markers don't move toward normalcy

Crude is - (minus) 13.70......down 171%.....from +31.50. Hope you don’t own any!! Owners are having to pay “buyers” to take possession, because all storage is full. Now that’s stranger than flu just disappearing!

I tried to get the gas station to pay me for filling up!? They said pay up!
of course you know how the market works and this situation resolved itself. $25 cent per gallon of gas, the 70s were great times to grow up in until Carter?!

You have a short memory. It all started under Nixon with wage and price control. Then Ford and Carter carried it on. But, you can only attack the Dem and then get pissed when I post negative about Trump. As bigot-WIX would say, you are no better that I am.

Gov Kemp has indicated some reasonable relaxation coming the end of this week. As for the Stanford study, I have long believed that the mortality rate was wildly overstated. They simply had no idea how long the Wuhan virus has been here nor how many people were infected because so many have zero symptoms. Recent studies based on antibody tests indicate a 50 to 80 times higher number of people infected than being reported. That's from one and a half to almost two orders of magnitude off. That alone immediately drops the Wuhan virus mortality to close to the same as the flu.
While that's good news the other issue is how contagious the virus is, whether people are contagious while asymptomatic and how many people end up in the hospital. That will be more clear over the next few months but for sure all the models and prognostications of doom truned out to be wildly wrong. Even those that took into account the shelter in place and other measures.
And of course the next big question is whether the Wuhan virus will be like SARS and disappear or the Spanish Flu and come back in the fall in some mutated and more deadly form. No one knows for sure and while we need to hope for the best we need to plan for the worst and get some effective treatment regimens in place and widely available if it does come back because we can be pretty sure there will be no vaccine before the fall.

LOL, I posted about the suspicous decline in flu deaths and it morphed into a discussion of oil prices. Always fun to see where things head in these threads. As for the disparity it is usually all about competition. Put a wholeseller like Raceway or QT and prices magically drop. Have a single Shell, Chevron, etc. with no nearby competition and the prices are always higher. I recall back in the day when gas stations would engage in price wars. They finally realized that all were better off keeping prices about the same and as high as possible. frankly, they make most of their money off people coming inside to buy other stuff.

States up North say thanks to Kemp for being the test ground for opening businesses like gyms, restaurants, and movie theaters. Which movie do you plan to see after eating out for dinner?
I hope restaurants can serve enough persons to be profitable while having them sit 6 ft apart.
This is a horrible time for all of us.
STAY SAFE.

They can serve more then just the people pulling up outside to get takeout.
so the carryouts + few inside = more then just inside. Reopening with some restrictions lets some people go back to work if they feel that they can. Somethings you just do not want to eat in your car or if you are having to go any distance will be cold.
Worst is going to be people with young kids. Daycare is also limiting/restricting so they may not be able to go back anytime soon unless they have family or someone who can watch the little ones.
Already heard that several restaurants including some large chains have already made decisions to never reopen some locations.
Logans steak house in Leeds is not going to reopen and have heard that at least 3 restaurants in the Pell City area will not be coming back.

News flash Goofy, Georgia is not going to be a test case. There are already a number of states that never locked down. So they can look there. I agree that it will be interesting to see how restaurants handle this. Will be more revenue and more employees than just take out which will hopefully make it possible for them to pay the rent, utilities, etc. and still be in business when this is all over. As for movie theaters, we only go once a year at most. My wife hates the movies. Too loud, too cold, seats are not comfortable, why pay $15 when we can wait for it to come to Netflix, etc. One of my crosses. :-)

Obviously, it's the density of the cities in Georgia not the rural parts that will be tested. We have to open the country and Atlanta, Savannah, Cobb County, etc will be a good test. It will be interesting to see if business returns in sufficient numbers to justfy opening. This life sucks.
Take out is a big deal where we are...you drive to the front door and they bring out your meals in a bags. Sadly, you don't need a large staff.
I wonder if those over 65 will be first in line for a Virus19 shot? Or, the rich and famous? Or infants or pregnant woman? Or anyone carrying a firearm?
We go to a movie maybe once a year. After watching it, I say to myself "this is cool"...have to do it more ofter. Never do...Went last summer and when I bought tickets had to select seats. Entered the theater(1of 10) and we were the only ones. One other couple entered and of all seats they had selected the seats in front of us. We laughed and they moved....the 4 of us had it to ourselves.
STAY SAFE.

Two interesting aspects to this....who will open and who will come. For sure I'm not going to take my 87 year old Mom to a restaurant. As for take out, we have tried to do that at least twice a week and I am encouraging our employees to do likewise. Granted it doesn't generate a lot of employment but it does keep the lights on.
Some of the states that did not lock down certainly have major cities much bigger than Cobb county but not as big as the Atlanta metro. Oklahoma City is a good example with a metro population of 1.25M. The state never had a lockdown and have less than 3,000 cases and 164 deaths.
This is indeed a terrible time and it will hopefully continue to improve. Here's hoping Kemp has it right and people will follow the other guidelines. If they do I suspect we will not see a spike in new cases even with the relaxed rules.
As for the Wuhan virus shot, it will likely not be available by this fall. And unless its widely available they need to prioritize the elderly and those with other conditions that make them more vulnerable to hospitalization.

Is this the Oklahoma City? No different than any other big city.
Local restrictions in Oklahoma City
The “Shelter in Place” emergency order is effective through April 30.
In general, it’s simple:
- Stay home. Exceptions are below on this list.
- You can shop for groceries, medicine, gas, repairs, and other essential goods and services.
- You can go to a restaurant for takeout or drive-thru service.
- You can go to the doctor and take care of other essential needs.
- You can exercise outside, including on sidewalks, trails and in public parks. You can enjoy outdoor activities like long walks, bike rides and fishing. Green spaces in parks are open. But all playgrounds are closed, both public and private. City-owned golf courses, fitness courts, dog parks, disc golf courses, skate parks, recreation centers and sport courts (basketball, tennis, volleyball, etc.) are also closed.
- You can go to work in an essential job. You can also do business with someone working in an essential job. Those jobs are defined by the State of Oklahoma, using a federal list and one provided by Gov. Kevin Stitt. Find out more at okcommerce.gov/covid19.
- You can drive, bike, walk and take transit. You don’t need special ID or a permit. Police aren’t asking people to prove why they’re outside their home.
- You can work from home if you work in a job defined by the State as non-essential. You can also do business with someone doing a non-essential job from home, but do it virtually or by phone. Even if it’s an essential job, employers are encouraged to allow employees to work from home if possible.
- Staff are allowed on site even at closed non-essential businesses for basic tasks like maintenance and security.
- You can check on someone in need.
- You can donate at blood drives, volunteer at food banks and participate in other disaster response activities.
- Staff can be at faith-based sites to record or broadcast services.
- Stay 6 feet away from others, for your safety and theirs.
- Wash your hands before you leave your house, and as soon as you get home.

OKC is not enforcing like other larger cities. They are not using the police to enforce and businesse have not closed in OKC like in many other large metro areas. That is the significant difference.
