I don't know whether Manafort is a criminal or not but if I were sitting on that jury I would think long and hard about anything that Gates said given all his admissions.  If there wasn't sufficient evidence totally independent of Gates' testimony I would have reasonable doubt and would vote to acquit.  Having run a business it is entirely possible for a trusted advisor to do all sorts of things that would result in faulty tax returns without the knowedge of the tax accountant or the firm's Principals.  It happens all the time, especially to owners that are very externally focused and have left the nuts and bolts of operations to a "trusted" employee.

Hey Phil.  If I were on the jury I would consider the facts alone...ALL the facts.  The fact is the prosecution apparently has a written paper trail that backs up every claim made by Gates! 

Your remarks about the inability of "Liberals" to be unbiased translated to another part of the country with different leanings make it obvious that if l was on trial in central Alabama for suspected manslaughter and you were on the jury, your decision might be based on my statements about Trump and not on the facts of the case.  How is that bad in DC but acceptable in Alabama?  What's true for the goose must be true for the gander!

My statement above is not opinion!  Mr H have you not listend to the reports regarding the Manifort trial?  According to ALL media reports (including FOX) the prosecution has been ''in fact'' presenting written documents to back-up everything Gates has said.  The trial is not open to cameras or recording equipment so, since I am not in the court room listening to the proceedings I have only the reports to confirm what is going on...in other words it is ''apparent'' to me based on reports what is transpiring but I have no personal knowledge of such.  Now just why the he!! does that get your knickers in a knot but you have no problem with Phil stating as ''fact'' that a ''liberal'' jury cannot make an unbiased decision on the facts of the case alone?

WIX can you read?  If so, please point out any comment where I claimed this trial had ANYTHING to do with Russia and/or collusion with Russia by Dear Leader and his minions!  This trial has to do with a guy as sleazy as Trump who is a tax cheat and financial fraudster whose criminal activities came to light during an investigation into Trump and his campaign's relations with Russia!  Do you think if you were being investigated for theft and while the cops were searching your house they find the stolen goods plus 6 bodies buried in new graves in your basement that you would only be on the hook for the theft?  Damn, it's not just your schtick...you really are stupid!

Go back and read my post. Your sentence beginning "The FACT is the prosecution APPARENTLY has a written paper trail" is nonsensical.  The word "apparent" means it appears to be the case, so you really don't know if it is true, yet you say it is a fact.  Had you said "It is a fact that CNN, MSNBC, and others report that apparently..." I wouldnt have raised the issue.  You want us to believe you, yet without sourcing your information your assertions come across as Archiefacts.

Mr H get off the high horse.  You go back and read my post!  It is a FACT that all news sources have reported that the gov't has presented written documents that strongly support their case.  It is also a FACT that neither you nor l nor anyone else not on the defense or prosecution or the special prosecutor's investigation team or is an officer of the court  have actually seen this information.  Unless I actually see and read the material I have to take others word that it exists.  Now, I do take their word qand that makes it APPARENT to me that it in FACT exists.  Now, what is so hard about that?

Which of phil's posts are you referring to?  I tried to find one where he said it is a fact that the jury would be biased and all I found was one where he gave his opinion, to which he is entitled.  Do I agree with it?  Maybe, maybe not. Lacking a post where he might have claimed it as fact it doesn't matter.

Actually, if he is being tried in federal court, it is in Alexandria VA, and the jury pool I believe would be a cross section.  I don't remember in VA if federal grand jury duty pulls from the whole state or just Northern VA.

My comment about the possibly political leanings of the area in DC actually came from a CNN piece earlier  in the year stating that a liberal was more likely to be aquitted in the area due to liberal leanings of the jury pool.  So if that statement by CNN is accurate then the inverse is also true by their statement.

Unlike you I do look at a lot of news sources and not just the echo chamber bubble of anti trump.
