THE GATHERING STORM
From Military Aviator: We lived in California during the winters of 2007 and 2008. We became addicted to Fox News and watched O'Reilly and Hannity and Colmes every night. When we got back home, we upgraded our cable to get Fox. I watched the Presidential campaign very closely. Initially because I thought the Democrats would nominate Hillary Clinton and then in astonishment when they chose an even more hard-left candidate. All of last year I told everyone I could that Obama was not a Democrat, he was a Marxist. He is far to the left of any European leader and even our far left party, the NDP.
I read Saul Alinsky when I was in University. I studied him and his writing carefully.
When Bill Ayers and his idiot wife were bombing and killing people at random in the Weather Underground, Weather Underground and the Black Panthers were closely allied. I read David Horowitz's account of changing from a Marxist to a conservative after seeing that the government was afraid to prosecute members of the Panthers for murdering his personal assistant. He suddenly understood the evil that Marxism really was.
After the student radicals failed in creating a Marxist revolution in the United States by violent means, they embraced Alinsky. You would be wise to read "Rules for Radicals" because it outlines how Hillary and Obama planned to get into power, and what they intended to do when they got it.
Socialism is not the correct descriptor for what Obama and the Democrats are doing. They are going to be much more far reaching than anything Sweden has ever been able to do. Obama is following Alinsky's plans, those set out in "Rules for Radicals" and his other writing. The Democrats are attempting to create one party rule in the US and in achieving that, will create crisis after crisis by their own actions and use those crises to nationalize the means of production in the US . You are in the middle of a communist revolution and few in the US can actually see it for what it truly is.
The US is now on the path of financial destruction. The Constitution has been shredded and individual human rights are being trampled. In less than 8 months, Obama has used a recession to take over the two largest industries in the US . He will debase the Dollar and is on the road to creating an incredible energy shortage that will allow him and Congress to take over the energy industry.
But by and large I think that by the 2010 elections, the Democrats will have gerrymandered electoral districts to the point that it will be impossible for them to lose control of both houses of Congress. The incredible increase in the money supply is going to create Zimbabwe and Venezuela style inflation, and with it, controls on the currency and the amount of money that can be taken out of the country. I love America , I cannot believe how the ignorance of the American public has created a situation whereby they are going to lose their Republic and slip into an age of repression and tyranny. I may be nuts, but so far I have been 100% in my predictions of what Obama was going to do, because I merely had to look at "Rules for Radicals" to see what was coming next. I read Glenn Beck's book, "Common Sense" and in it re-read Thomas Paine's pamphlet with the same name. I recommend the book.

Glenn Beck is an entertainer/editorial writer, if he is an idiot - no foul, don't buy the book. Our Government is being run by the biggest bunch of crackpots I have ever seen - that is a tragedy, and we are all screwed because of them. If we can get out of this administration without having a Supreme Court that will burn the Constitution; and be left with ONLY a debt that we cannot possibly repay, I will be happy.

Hound, you may disagree with him politically but he has done a fair share of reasonable skewering of Democrats in Congress and the WH. I can't stand the sound or sight of guys like James Carville or Paul Begala but I don't think they are idiots. They are just wrong most of the time.....If I were a betting man and I would bet on Glenn Beck in any debate with you about any political issue......but that's just my opinion.

I never have watched Beck much. Last time I wathed him he had a phone on his desk...said the phone was there for the whitehouse to call him when they caught him in a lie...I never heard it ring...Curious, has anyone heard it ring? Call beck a idiot if you want,I agree...but through all his goofy stunts, his reports are accurate. Can anyone say that about CNN or MSNBC?

and he is wildly successful. He is also conservative and takes on the left and all that combined makes him public enemy number 1. I can understand why Hound can't stand him, would not watch him, etc. but to call him an idiot is an unfair characterization. He is neither an idiot, nor is he stupid.

I agree with you 100% His viewer ratings are too high. And that drives the liberals nuts. I wonder how many millions of our tax payers money Obama has spent on attacking fox????? ...something to think about huh? I have also wondered how many millions, or billions of tax money he has spent trying to shove his health care down out throats.. Hmmm...maybe we all need to balk and quit paying our taxes until they start spending the money like we approve of. For the record. I wish there were a hundred more glen becks out there to stir em up with the truth.

I thought Beck was an idiot well before the Obama Administration. He just spouts rhetoric. I'm not particularly fond of James Carville either or his wife. I don't like Bill O'Reilly and I wouldn't watch Keith Oberman if you paid me.
I've come to the conclusion that there are just too many talking head shows on, and as a result each of them has to get further and further out there to draw an audience. I don't necessarily want to watch someone that I'm just nodding my head in agreement to either -- I want someone that makes me think a bit. That's what I loved about Tim Russert.
And by the way -- the phone on Beck's show? I'm sure it's just a prop.

I think you have hit the nail on the head Hound. Why the Obama administration is going after guys like Beck or even Fox News is mystifying and was a very bad idea. First of all it is just cable news and only reaches a few million viewers each night. The spat only inflated their importance. Say what you will about Bush but he never responded to detractors like that for precisely that reason.
As for the phone, I don't know whether it is a prop or not but I am betting its not and why should it just be? He knows they will never call, nor should they. But it is a clever response to the administration's attack of his show and his accuracy. They have no one to blame but themselves and they are responsible for diminishing the office by stooping down and picking a fight with Beck and Fox. Dumb, dumb, dumb.....Even dumber to pick a fight with Rush because he reaches 20 million listeners each week.
As Mark Twain said in the good old days, "Never pick a fight with a man that buys ink by the barrel". If alive today he would coin another equally apropos phrase to cover TV.

Although I must admit, I do not like his "presentation," a little to goofy for me, he is hardly an idiot. Some folks just can't handle the truth. If the shoe fits........
|
I think it is a tactical error on the part of any Administration to fight these battles. Whether we agree with a particular broadcast or not, they serve a useful purpose -- to fuel debate -- much like the political columnists and the cartoonists and people like Twain in the past. I guess I just wish that there were more that were writing. I miss the well written column and the resulting "letters to the Editor". When one writes, one has to think.
Yet, every Administration has it's little battles with the media. Bush had them too, and Nixon hated them -- Reagan learned how to use them.

Do not confuse shrillness with inaccuracy. If Glen Beck were inaccurate, those inaccuracies would be spread in bold face. If he were lying, those prevarications would be launched in the MSM every evening at 6:30.
But the only opening for disparagement is Mr. Beck’s style.
His delivery of his message fits the requirements of the times. People don’t watch the news just for news anymore… they expect to be entertained. If he were Edward R. Murrow, he would be categorized as boring. Glen Beck delivers accurately aimed barbs in an entertaining fashion.
Don’t think that the phone is a prop. It’s a metaphorical plea for sunshine. He would love to debate President Obama, or Al Gore, or Hilary Clinton. But, because the hasty policies that he decries cannot stand the light of day (read indefensible), he is safe to throw down the gauntlet. His challenge will never be taken. If such policies were defensible, they would be made deliberately, during business hours, in full view of the media, clearly written, and subject to the review of the people.

While I admit I am prone to want to believe the basis (not the hysteria) of what Beck says, I haven'r heard too many refute what he says as untrue or off base. Hound, do you have examples? I don't watch him that much but when I do he seems to have logic and reason (and a he!! of a lot of showmanship) in his court.
