It seems the Dem US Attorney General Holder has recognized that former Alaska U S Senator Stevens was railroaded in his political corruption trial last year........the US Justice Dept has asked the federal judge to set aside his verdict. The prosecutors withheld info critical to Stephens defense? Wonder if he can have a do-over on his election? One less corrupt Republican.......how's that count going for the Dems........ :-}

No delayed justice -- Stevens was guilty as sin. They are dismissing the charges because the AG determined that the procecuters had illegally withheld information from the defense during the preparation of the case. So he's getting off on a legal technicality.

My questions....Does the indictment, prosecution, and conviction say anything in particular about the Bush Justice Dept.? Does the overturning of the conviction say anything in particular about the Obama Justice Dept.?
PS: Before all the rightwingers start getting outraged about how this prosecution (by a Bush asministration Justice Dept.) cost Sen. Stevens his seat, remember he was the "KING OF PORK".

I have no love nor little respect for Stevens. All it says about the Obama Justice Dept is they got their political objective accomplished in replacing a Republican (even if at the hands of the Bush Justice Dept.) and what it says about Bush's administration is that regardless of political party affiliation if they believe something illegal occurred they pursued it. We shall see of the Messiah's Justice Dept under the corrupt Eric Holder will be as ethical.
As for Hound saying he was guilty as sin and got off on a technicality I think you are mistaken. You see, the prosecutors withheld evidence that in fact could have resulted in a not guilty finding by the jury. In America that is still called being innocent. If he were so guilty I am quite sure they would have asked for a new trial but would have had more egg on their face and it would likely have been thrown out anyway.

that he took "favors" that were offered to him only as a result of his public position. And in my book, that makes him guilty. Yes, a jury might have found him innocent, but that would have been a miscarriage of justice.
If you don't believe that Stevens took favors, then you probably believe that the other guy just had a wide stance and wasn't soliciting sexual favors in the men's room in Minnesota.

I'm a conservative and think that Ted Stevens is a scum bag.. the Republican wierdo doing footsie in an airport is a scumbag... Our former President, who had oral sex with a subordinate (intern) is a scumbag?? (As a former militay dude, I would still be doing time in Levenworth for the latter.) Anyone disagree??

I agree with all of your points.
The thing about the Minneapolis Airport really freaked me out. Obviously not because I'm male, but because I have been through that airport so many times, passed by that men's room and had no idea what was going on in there. Yuck!
The whole Clinton thing was just a complete and utter disgrace. What could he possibly been thinking (or obviously not thinking), and then all the lies and the intrigue. And then when the Clintons stole things from the WH as they left. Geez, was anyone not sorry to see them go?

Tallullahound - I must tell you that it was proven that the Clinton's never took anything from either the White House or the airplane. Just one quote (and there are many more sites to verify this):
"I think it was this calculated effort to plant a damaging story. There was a sort of fertile ground for believing anything bad."
Alex S. Jones director, Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University
Even G W Bush finally admitted that there was no truth to this. I AM NOT defending the Clintons, but I just hate the urban legends that seem to be so prevalent.

In May, 2001, it was revealed that a formal review by the General Accounting Office, Congress' investigative agency, "had found no damage to the offices of the White House's East or West Wings or EOB" and that Bush's own representatives had reported "there is no record of damage that may have been deliberately caused by the employees of the Clinton administration."
So, no, that was not true.

Wow ... what press do you follow? I saw an interview with Bush after he got out of office and he himself confirmed that the "W" were missing, as well as items from the Lincoln bedroom. He laughed about the W's and said that the other missing items had been investigated and resolved. Whatever that means.
I am sure it was handled such that an ex-president and Hillary who wanted to be president (what a joke), were not labeled as thieves, so it was quietly resolved.

Bush was confused when he looked at the missing key. It was the "M" for Monica not the "W". You need to get your urban myths correct before you post them as fact. You come across like a Liberal from Buckhead with your lack of facts. May I suggest you spend more time on quality and research rather than quantity with a voluminous number of postings.
We do agree that socialism has and will always be a failure. Conservatives failed the country during Bush's presidency. You guys need to do some soul searching as to your own party.

Direct quote from GAO report: The former senior advisor for presidential transition questioned whether as many as 60 keyboards could have been intentionally damaged because, while helping with the downloading and archiving of data from computers during the morning of January 20, he moved about 50 computer central processing units29 from offices in the EEOB during the morning of January 20 and did not see any “W” keys missing from keyboards. In addition, regarding an observation of two keyboards with missing “W” keys in a certain office suite, this former official said that he was in that office suite after 10:30 a.m. on January 20 helping with the downloading and archiving of data from computers, and he did not see any keyboards with missing “W” keys there.
I'd like to hear or read the interview that you saw with where Bush said that. Any idea where I can find a link?

Sorry. There was a lot of ink about it in Washington at the time. I thought that I even read that at one point the Clintons agreed to return some furniture pieces. Of course, there was so much scandal around the Clintons at that point, it's hard to tell what was true or not.

I knew a few people that worked at the WH at that time and it was true. Bush put the kabash on the discussion about it. You may recall that as Bush was leaving in January, he made put forth a policy that nothing like that was to be done.

Lady, you'd best stick with defending the Messiah and leave the Clinton sleaze alone. I just read enough of the GOA report (W-W gave the link in his post below) to see that it is pretty damning. That "senior advisor for presidential transition" was either a Clinton hack or didn't bother to see what was really going on. The condition the White House was left in by the Clinton staff just demonstrates further the childishness, meanness, and total lack of class of the Clinton mob.

I think we all know lady and the other liberal socialist either go in hiding when presented the clear facts or start to attack and squawk about something else that is not relevant to try and change the subject. They never stay on point when boxed in a corner trying to support their radical views. A liberal never says I am wrong or I stand corrected. It is so funny to watch.
