And now we wait and see what happens to the virus rate.  My hair salon called me and asked if I wanted an appointment for this week, but that is still a bridge too far for me this week.  Their response was a bit annoyed.

Hoping it continues.  Was out and about over the weekend and people were practicing social distancing and tons of people were wearing masks.  Had takeout from a Longhorn Steakhouse and their dining room was open but they were only using every other table and the big bar had around 8 chairs, all 6 feet apart.

He's in Montgomery at the D'Markos salon.  His name is Marty Meuller.

Ventured over to Mexico di Tipico and sat down to a very relaxing meal...at a table...inside the restaurant.  Apparently the word hadn't sunk in because rather than throngs of people there were just a few here and there.  Absolutely no problem with spacing and OMG, how nice it was to drink a Margarita I didn't have to fix for myself, lol.

BTW, entire staff was in M-95s and gloves.

I had a dental procedure this afternoon that had originally been scheduled for mid-March (cancelled, of course).  It was very interesting, as all of the staff were outfitted like they were employed in a Hazmat operation.  A staffer came out to the parking lot, took your temperature, asked a series of questions and escorted you into the office.  I was at least 20 feet from the nearest patient.  You were required to sanitize your hands upon entry and had to swirl a solution around in your mouth for 30 seconds before they could start the procedure.  Apparently these are the new CDC requirements for dental procedures, at least for now.  I actually felt very safe and they were quite careful and extremely professional.  In my opinion, it is time to get back to living, with reasonable safeguards and procedures, of course.

34,000 infected including more than 1200 new cases in the last 24 hours, 1450 dead, 2nd worse infection rate in the south relative to population...worse than FL, worse than TX!  Not even one of the CDC recommendations met!  Yeah sure ''So far so good in Georgia''!

Ask the sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, children and friends of the 1450 dead if it is ''so far so good in Georgia''!

Ask the poultry workers in Hall County, the worst per capita infection in the state, if they agree that ''so far so good in Georgia''!

MM, it is apparent why you now so love the man you once decried, because you and he are both devoid of concern for those who are suffering from this disaster that has been made much worse by one man's disinterest and inability to lead!

''So far so good in Georgia''...Yeah sure!

I wonder if CRD still doesn't think it is a crisis and who he is going to blame for 81,500 dead and counting...Joe Biden?

I wonder if Carlson still thinks Hydroxychloroquine is going to stop the disease in its tracks?

This is not over, it is far from over...but ''so far so good in Georgia''.

Three questions.

1.  How long does it take for new infections to be discernible?

2.  How long has Georgia been reopened?

3. How much of the doom and gloom you cite is because Georgia reopened?

1.  3 to 12 days

2.  18 days

3.  It is not gloom and doom, it is truth.  I am pointing out the true fact that before and after GA ''reopened'' GA had the 2nd worse infection rate in the south and one much worse than most states in general.

4.  Saying that things are ''so far so good'' in a state that is suffering more than most areas of this nation is a bit insensitive at best and stupid as hell at worst. MM may be doing fine but GA is not.  I'm glad he enjoyed Long Horn but sorry that 1450 Georgians will never be able to enjoy anyplace ever again.

"I'm glad he enjoyed Long Horn but sorry that 1450 Georgians will never be able to enjoy anyplace ever again."  MM not enjoy Long Horn...he enjoyed their food as he ordered takeout.

The big question obviously is will people be willing to stand in line waiting to get into a restaurant with limited seating? Can you keep 6 feet apart while waiting? Was the table, menu, and ketchup cleaned before you sat down? Is all this worth a meal? Sadly, life has really changed and it really sucks.

What is cool is ordering groceries online and then driving to Publix and Walmrt and they load your order in the back of the vehicle. Can even order wine from Walmart and just check you are over 21...no need to show ID. No need to run credit card as all is handled online.

Couple of pics on Georgia.  From GPH Georgia Public Health website.  There have not been over 1400 deaths since reopening.  It is total.

Picture is huge, so scroll right to see current

Archie,

I could have sworn you were quoting statistics from the 2018 Flu season.  80K deaths nationwide and I can vaguely remember you posting about the need for nationwide quarantining at that time.  And yes, I still hold that this has not been a crisis in the pure sense of the word, except for locally in those tragic nursing homes in NY that were ordered by your friend Cuomo to take in COVID+ patients from hospitals without any form of employee, facility or structual safeguards in place.

Stay sequestered in your basement, while the rest of Georgia, with appropriate safeguards and proper precaution, supports the local small businesses who are struggling to get back on their feet.  We will let you know when all is clear.

Yes I am still believing in the cocktail including plaquinel, z pack and zinc.  Funny how people took to testing plaquinel only for hospitalized patients which is too late.  Test positive for COVID prescribe the cocktail especially zinc!  It's an outpatient option according to the French scientists.  Also have you seen that deaths all had severe vitamin D deficiency.  So when the Michigan study is finished let's compare notes. Finally the results as a preventative measure should be out soon.  hard to prove a negative.

this board was so slow lately I fell asleep

Georgia cases per million - 3,337

Top 4 states cases per million - 11,000 to 18,000

Georgia deaths per million - 143

Top 4 states deaths per million - 771 to 1,403

So for you left wing nuts decrying the relaxation of the shelter in place and closures I would point out that the four worst states closed earlier and are still closed. And Georgia's position on both these lists has actually improved a bit since the new requirements were put in place.  Which does not surprise me as we saw with the study in NY that 65% of the infections occurred at home.  I know this kills you leftists that want the economy to be completely destroyed to feed your TDS but it is what it is.  And while there are no guarantees I am optimistic that we will continue to move down the curve.  And if circumstances change the Governor will respond appropriately.

I would also remind you, because you are likely ignorant of reality, that there was one purpose for the restrictions and one purpose only.  To not overwhelm our hospital system's ICU beds and ventilators.  It was never and could never eliminate people from ultimately being infected.  It could however, reduce the apex of the case curve and extend it out over a longer period of time so the health care system would not be overwhelmed and on that score it has accomplished that goal at tremendous and long lasting economic cost.

There are only three ways to end viral infections: 1) an effective vaccine which is 12 to 24 months away (if ever); 2) the virus dies out in the summer and does not return like we saw with SARS; or 3) herd immunity.  In the meantime, our best hope is that treatment regimens are developed that are effective in preventing deaths as much as possible.

Have you read about Fauxi's financial ties to the drug Remsvider(sp?).  Search it and see what hits you get.  I read two articles on it yesterday but don't remember where.  He has talked down the fish tank cleaner drug while pushing the other.  The timeline is very suspicious too as to development/testing/approval and the outbreak but that really gets into conspiracy crap which I don't care to pursue but the finacial ties seem criminal to me along with his rhetoric pushing its use.

MM - what source do you use, I have bounced around with sources and charts but can't find one that stays consistently updated and seemingly accurate?

I use the following source although there are several others.  The various sources have slightly different numbers which is why I stick with one.  Here you go.  By the way, they have all the other countries as well.  You can't drill down on individual states other than going to the sources.

Georgia cases down 12% since they reopened.  Florida down 14%.  Other reopened states have even higher reductions.  Both are seven day rolling average to smooth out daily ups and downs.  May be a bit early to decide as we probably need three weeks to see what will happen......but so far, so good.....sorry left wing nuts.  You'll need a serious amount of time in a safe space if this holds up.

thanks, that data matches another site I refer to but what I see on the site you provided is the history charts and future projected charts in the "projection" link off to the right.  Very interesting.  Thanks again for providing the link.

It is interesting to see how the cases are going in the states that have recently "re-opened."  It appears that several studies have shown a significant correlation between vitamin D deficiency and Covid-19 deaths.  Of course, the best and most ample source of vitamin D is through natural sunlight, so the go crawl in your dark hole and stay there government orders may actually have been counter-productive.  We are scheduled for a vacation next month in Florida so hopefully if current data holds, we will catch some vitamin D on the beach.  If not, Lake Martin remains an excellent backup plan.  Either way, I will have a good excuse when I visit my Dermatologist in a couple of months

Helps improve vitamin D and is a great disinfectant as we are seeing with Obamagate and the Flynn travesty.  I'd say my wife is safe as she plays golf three to four times per week......at least from the Wuhan ChiCom Chinese virus, not the dermatologist.

But Antifatech said that all of GA is infected and around 300% is going to die.  But they can all vote from the grave yard.

Not surprised Archie was running around simultaneously crying wolf and the sky is falling.  As I said from the beginning the reopening was done with some risk and time would tell if it was a mistake......which is why I said "so far".  The difference between us and the left is that they are cheering for more cases and more deaths if it harms a Republican politician.  There is little you can do about that level of evil sickness.  TDS is very real and it makes people evil.
