That was the delema that Trump faced this past week. Whether to suck it up and act like a man and go to Houston to pay respect to Barbara and the Bush family or go to Florida and play golf. This was first time a Republican Presdient did not attend the funeral for a former Republican president's wife. A real loser.

Am glad he did not go. Distraction and bad blood. Plus I read where other sitting presidents avoided same in the past. Send his best ambassador

I don't think he would have been welcomed. Barbara Bush was not a fan of his, after he took out after Jeb. This is not the first time a President did not attend the funeral of a spouse. He did the best possible thing.

Presidents have not attended funerals for first ladies of the other party. This is the first time a president has not attended a funeral for a first lady of the SAME party. The fact that he would not be welcome within his OWN party is really pathetic. Presidents are members of a very small elite fraternity. To be unwelcome is a sign of a real character flaw.
You can see from the picture the genuine friendship between the Clintons and the Bush family. That is what Makes America Great rather than the Trump trademark of name calling. It really is sad when an adult is unwelcomed at a funeral.

You don't understand the establishment that is against him. The swamp is full of Bush Clinton's and the white collar welfare state that thinks the laws do not apply to them

Why does this even warrant discussion? Who really cares? He was probably preparing for the visit of the French President this week. I'd rather he spend his time on that. These former president have nothing else to do and it's a good photo op.

GF, you mis-speak, Trump would be very welcome by most office holding members of his own party because they care more about their jobs than the nation. He simply was not welcome by members of an old line GOP family that was burying a fine woman who recognized Trump for the narccissistic, lying, unethical, womanizing, idiot that he is!

The Clintons and the white collar wefare state (whatever that is) may think the laws do not apply to them. Donald Trump knows for damn sure the laws do not apply to him and he makes an effort to demonstrate it every day.

Why does it bother you so much if Donald Trump utilizes the same legal loopholes as the Clintons? Maybe because he does it out in the open, rather than behind closed doors? It's just like taxes - Trump no doubt, employs whole offices of accountants and tax lawyers to make sure that he uses every loophole that exists, just like everyone else on the planet. But becasue you don't like him, that makes him bad? Tell me, if you knew there was a tax loophole that was legal, and it would save you hundreds, thousands or millions of dollars, woudn't you use it? You know damn well you would, just like everyone else. The only difference is that most of us can't afford the best accountants and tax lawyers and keep them busy year in and year out, doing our taxes.
