So instead of being fired the guy who committed a grossly negligent or intentional act is simply reassigned.  As I said, it is nearly impossible to fire someone from the government.  And of course Hawaii's unfunded pension liability is currently estimated at $35 billion, the 44th worst liability on a per capita basis and doesn't even include the $11 billion in unfunded health benefits to retirees.  And their state employee pay averages around $60K per year and their county and local pay is the highest in the country.  I know, it's all Trump's fault that this guy pushed the wrong button.......

The man was stupid.

If we could fire govt employees for stupidity 3/4's the Congress, 2/3's the cabinet plus the president and VP would be out of a job!!

If he was not fired, he should have been downgraded (cut in pay).  I think, however, if there was a firable offense, it was this.  But he was likely Hawaiian, and has the Aloha spirit.  (Had a friend who lived in Hawaii and to be native Hawiian means you are golden).

You could be right about being a native.  They won't identify the perp so we will never know.  But for sure this is a firable offense and all that happened was a reassignment and I am sure no cut in pay and he will still get his lavish pension.  This outcome is far from surprising nor is the blaming of Trump.
