The US economy created 223,000 jobs in June, about what had been forecast. The big news may be that this economy has created 3,000,000 new jobs in the last year. Relative to the population, that is a number that harkens back to the Reagan, Clinton and.......*Carter years!
* Yep it's a FACT...look it up!

Labor Force Participation Rate down to a 38 year low of 62.6% Last year that this number was this low was in Sept of 1977. Glad I was still in college then. The jobs they say they created in April and May were actually 60K less after adjustment. Individuals in the labor force decreased 432K. 56K fewer people employed and don't give me the baby boomer retirement spiel or I will go bonkers on you with facts...no change in hours worked or wages in forever now. If you are in the service industry, the outlook seems to be good. Otherwise, I simply for the life of me cannot see anything rosey in this report.
I heard Rush said this past week that he has not witnessed such an uninformed electorate as we have now in his entire career. And I have a hunch....only mine...This summer i have witnessed an explosion of patients, both teenagers and adults, precribed anti anxiety/depression meds. I will not go further into what these drugs are capable of, but suffice it to say, that it would not be far-fetched to link Rush's observation with the doses of these potent medications that are now effortlessly prescribed.

Then you must be blind or completely biased...l think l know which. By the way, anybody that gets his "facts" from Rush (the Lush) Windbag is as unaware of reality as anyone who gets them from Michael (fat and scruffy) Moore! But then again Rush may be OK commenting on the overuse of prescription drugs, after all he does know a lot from experience when it comes to the overuse of "prescription" drugs!
Sorry it makes your blood pressure rise, but since l am one l can assure you that the baby boomers are gladly dropping out of the job market in droves...just received word today that my pest control guy and a psychologist friend and fellow real-estate investor (66 and 65 respectively) are making room for some younger folk and damn happy doing it.

Wasn't Rush Limbaugh supposed to leave the country when Obama was elected or re-elected? Who would even listen to his drivel.

A few munutes after my earlier reply to your post I heard an economist being interviewed on PBS (yeah I know liberal. socialist. not unbiased and reliable like Rush) commented that 50% of the drop in the percentage of those participating in the job market over the last 10 years has been baby boomers leaving the job market through retirement and that many of the other 50% also left not because they were discouraged but to do other things...raise children (surely you family values types would applaud this), attend college, etc. Hope this news doesn't ruin your evening.

Archie, the mention of Rush seems to elevate your blood pressure and tingle your nerves. Maybe the good Doc needs to prescribe some medication to get you through these episodes. I fear though your major ailment is liberalism, which, like the common cold, has no cure. Have a happy 4th!

Don't need anything to ease my concern over Rush...Rush himself does that every time he opens his mouth. If I did need any meds I'm not sure I would ask a doctor who takes his talking points from, as my grandma would say, a "dope fiend".
My illness is not liberalism but an even worse affliction...extreme moderation. On this forum that is akin to suffering with heart disease, an agressive form of cancer and all known STD's all at the same time! As I say...on average this bunch is the most off the wall right wing group of near or already there lunatics I ever have any dialogue with.
Glorious 4th and God bless America!!

You claim moderation but your posts are way left of even Goofy F...... You wondered why, when you thought I was an even minded soul, that I disagreed with you. It is because your posts belie your claimed "moderation", and brand you as a died in the wool far left ideologue. A true moderate wouldn't rail against the right as you do. He would just pass it off for what it is and vote his conscience in the next election. If you are a true moderate why don't you spend as much time on GF drivel as you do the right (MM,AU,et al)? No, you choose to only attack the right. In my eyes you have lost any credibility you might have had as a "moderate".

Mr H I engage with the conservatives on this forum because they comprise 95% of it. I use the word conservative out of charity. The opinions of at least half of the posters on this forum would appall true conservatives such as Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater, Everitt Dirkson, etc. The "conservativism" expressed time and again by some posters is based on hatred, yes I say it again, hatred of Barack Obama. More often than not no facts are offered, no inquiries answered, no counter-arguments offered ever...it is simply bash Obama and anybody else who does not harbor the same hatred.
I suspect I have voted for more Republicans in national elections over the last 50 years than you have voted for Democrats. I admit it is getting more and more difficult as the party has moved well past the center-right position once historically held by the GOP.
I am very liberal on social issues, I lean conservative on fiscal issues and am a cautious moderate on foreign policy. I am a proud southerner who is ashamed of how the extremists that have become the base of the Republican party make us appear (Judge Roy Moore, Gov. Jindal, Pat Robertson, Gov. Huckaby, ad-infinitum). I believe in low taxes but also know that our infrastructure is decaying and private money is not going to rebuild it. I believe America has to be strong but realize we cannot police the entire planet and even if we could we should not. I have my religious beliefs but if I am in the business to serve the public I would never use those beliefs to deny service to any of the public...religion has NO place in politics until you are in the voting booth. I believe in local control and local initiative until the locals refuse to take the needed initiative. I think we should stop illegals at the border and that one way to do it is make sure we punish the business owners who hire the illegals as severely as we punish the illegals themselves. I believe that if a child who is too young to know otherwise is illegally brought into the country compassion is demanded. I believe healthcare is a necessity and not a choice and I think that all citizens should be required to insure themselves with government help if needed, but l also believe that this action should be a personal responsibility rather than something provided by an employer. I believe in listening to the scientists rather than preachers or Congressmen or lobbyist when discussing a matter of science. I oppose abortion but will never force anyone else, especially a woman, to adhere to my beliefs. If this makes me a liberal then I am a proud liberal.
