I was really upset until I read it again and realized it was $10,000 per couple not per person.

I expect the GOP will be hosting a number of $10,000 per plate dinners once they settle on a candidate. This isn't out of touch -- this is business as usual fundraising. And the biggest donors get other goodies if the candidate wins -- sleepovers at the WH in the Lincoln Bedroom, lunches at the WH, invitations to State dinners; the biggest donors may get a ride on AF One. This is not limited to just Democrats.
In fact, when I lived in Washington, I (and I'm sure hundreds of others) got invitations to join "inner circle" groups that gets you up close and personal with the candidate for a minimum donation of $10,000.
Sorry to say H_Hob, I think it's you that is out of touch.

When you live in Idaho like Hobbbie, candidates just need to offer a value meal for support.

Doubt you get $10,000 for a value meal. But there are all levels of support.. hehehe.

$10,000/couple does seem pretty middle class in comparison to the $100,000 per person event W once held.
