A man, whose appearance and dress gave him away as a hayseed from the hills of Georgia, walks into a downtown Atlanta bank and tells a loan officer he wants to borrow $5000 to take his girlfriend to Europe for a week. The officer asks whether he has anything to offer as collateral. He takes out the Title to a 2010 Mercedes 500SL. The officer swallows hard, smiles and says that should be sufficient. The man walks out with a bank check for $5000, the bank takes possession of the Benz and parks it in a secured garage next to the CEO's private space. The high muckty-mucks of the bank laugh for the entire week about the "hick" who can own free and clear a $120,000 car but needs to borrow $5000 to spend a week in Europe, not to mention how how stupid he must be to provide collateral worth 25 times the loan.
A week later the "hick" walks back into the bank and gives the loan officer a certified check for $5004.78 to cover the loan principal and interest. The loan officer returns the car title and informs the man that he has been the butt of a week long joke at the bank. "We've wondered why a man who could afford such an expensive car needs to borrow money to travel." The "hick" replies "Oh shoot, I never did to borry no money fer ma trip, I got 8 million dollars in the bank up home. Hit jes seemed lak a purty good deal payen $4.78 ta park ma car for a week in shore'nuff safe place whilst we wus gone."
