Looking to downsize from having to maintain a MasterCraft Maristar and a HarrisKayot pontoon to a multifunctional tritoon for skiing, tubing and lake cruising.

I am torn, as we really love the Mastercraft for skiing, etc. and of course the pontoon for cruising, but am tired of having to continually maintain two boats.

Have seen numerous "go fast" tritoons on the lake this summer, even one pulling a 250 lb slalom skier on a short rope cutting back and forth hard across the wake at what appeared to be 30+ mph. Have to say this really got me thinking about consolidating to one boat.

Anyway, questions are as follows:

- Bennington vs. JC Mfg. – best for skiing, tubing, handling the chop, etc.
- I/O or 4 stroke – for speed, maintenance, fuel economy, etc.
- 22 vs. 24 foot – Handling chop, maneuverability, etc.

My concerns are a "go fast:" tritoon will not have good maneuverability at say 30+ mph in order to turn to pick up fallen skiers, for hard tubing and not sure about handling when you are pulling a slalom skier on a short rope who is cutting hard. I realize the tritoon will not handle as well as the MasterCraft, but am willing to give up some handling for multi-purpose tritoon.

Also the tritoon needs to be able to handle/break the chop at say 35 mph when cruising to the Rock from the North end of the lake or down to Kowaliga through the bay.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I would check the JC Power survey for customer satisfaction.

Most people I talk to highly favor the 4 stroke outboards. Weight is probably an advantage over the IO (?)

If I didn't pull skiers in congested areas then manuverability would not be as important to me although It would make me a little nervous. 22 ft would help and that is still a pretty good size boat.

Overall weight and beam I think will determine how the boats performs in chop. The tri-toon really helps too.

Good Luck!

I have no idea... I have filled out a few surveys from JC Power.. I assumed it was legit. You know otherwise?
