The pig should be reopening under new management/owners. Wont be soon enough for me. Foodland has been raising g prices at a steady rate since the Pig closed. Be nice to have competition back in the local market. I hope they have the same high quality meat that the old Pig did.

When I first moved here they had great meat. The whole place went down over the last years. It was as good as anything at Catherine's for a lot less money. You can disagree, but it doesn't change the facts.

I know when we moved here --our realtor who lives in The Ridge told us she went to WDixie for groceries and the Pig (ALEX CITY) for meat and most everyone she knows did the same.. so I believe it. I think the owners of the DADEVILLE Pig just fell on hard times or had some difficulty implementing business management. We will be glad to have the Pig back in action. A little competition never hurts.

Pig steaks beat foodland any day!! They may have lacked at several things,  but choice meat cuts weren't one of them. I've barely ate steak since the pig closed as foodland steaks blow, I'd rather grill up a burger or ribs.

You must not have read what crimson had to say.....the pig couldn't possibly have good meats....lol. It has to be overpriced at Catherine's before it can be good quality I guess. I wonder if he, or many others for that matter, know that Piggly Wiggly was the first self service grocery store. Before them a clerk gathered your goods from a list provided.

I was just in Dadeville at a local merchant and was told that the deal for the Pig had fallen through. The invester got cold feet and pulled out of the deal. My source is someone that I have done buiness with for years and I trust their information. I really wanted the Pig to reopen.

I don't live up around the lake. Where I live there are three or four meat shops that have the finest steaks u can eat.  But outside them....I'll take a publix 1" sliced filet straight off the strap over anything piggly wiggly can come up with.  I realize ur options are limited up there so I understand....just funny to see piggly wiggly as the place to get steaks.  It's all good fellas....cows back is good no matter who sells it

You guys are dreaming. The Dadeville population/income profiles can't support 2 grocery stores. Be really happy you have a nice Foodland and a really good Winn-Dixie close by.

The Pig had great steaks and their thick pork chops were the best! I hope they do reopen.

Well while we are talking grocery stores/ meat markets... Catherines is not anything special. And the bakery is just lame. Unfortunately I live in Atlanta and not the lake full time (yet) but even if I were at the lake full time it is my wordly and big city"fied" opinion that little market is serioulsy lacking. I liked the PIG better.. so there!    :)   I am in love with all things Dadeville and small town life in general..... SO I could be jaded.  And don't even get me started on Spring House. I will try it again before posting my opinion... but so far I really do not see what all fo the fuss is about. Maybe we just went on an off night. Great Wine List though.
