Great story. You should watch.
People like this give us the freedom to disagree. But the sad part is our president does not understand this and feels we should all just roll over for his socialist agenda.
And of course these soldiers should handle their own healthcare, after all it is a volunteer military and they knew the risks (per Obama) so why should the government take care of them for protetecting our freedoms.
I don't know, I like my freedom and would gladly pay the medical care for our service men and women for their scarifices to maintain that freedom. Despite Obama and the dems efforts to continue to take it away.

A most inspiring story. Thanks for posting it.
Too bad you had to include what you know is an absolute lie "they knew the risks (per Obama) so why should the government take care of them for protetecting(sic) our freedoms".
It is important to pick your shots and the posting about Lt Brennan was not the place.
|
Even snopes could not confirm the statement as inaccurate, even if they said it was taken out of context. I know you think you know everything and are an attack machine when someone does not agree with your thinking ... but one of these days you will have to face the truth. Unfortunately you have to post lies about your own life, which we have proven a few times. That is so sad when someone is so ashamed and embarrassed about their own life that they have to lie about it.
But thanks ... it is an inspiring story and it is still too bad we have a president that thinks the way he does and wants to move us to socialism.

WW, Your President Obama with the aid of Sen. Webb and others has increased funding for veteran health which your former President Bush steadfastly refused to do. It was done with the support of less than half of the Republicans in Congress. We can always count on you to take an inspiring story and try to use it to bash Obama. I wonder what the Lt. thinks of his Commander in Chief? I of course don't know but would bet the farm it is more reasoned than you.
And BTW WW did you even notice that the great piece on Lt. Brennan came from that liberal biased CBS?
|
I did post the one from CBS sunday morning show. I saw the whole story first on FOX and went looking for it on Youtube and found this one that was shorter, but still did a good job.
Yes I will look for every opportunity to bash Obama and the dems for the destruction of this country.
I realize that you are more biased since you can not state what Obama is doing good, you have admitted that you did not vote for Obama but against the repoublicans since you did not like Bush or Palin. I guess it was that "change" thing you voted for. Well you are getting change and the destruction of our country and freedoms. But I know you are ok with that as you want government to think for you, otherwise how could you support them taking away your freedoms.
I also saw two things on FOX this week that made me sick ... you can bash FOX, but they report all of the news whether it is favorable to Obama or not.
1. An Obama spokesperson that said the new "N" word for the republicans is "socialism". Why is it they play the race card when people don't agree with Obama's direction. NUTS. It was ok for them to call Bush all sorts of names and be critical of the positive things he did for jobs, the economy and our national security ... but disagree with Obama and the dems call you a racisit.
2. Fox and other channels showed some racisit posters outside some of the town hall meeting on healthcare. I and others would not say that is representitive of the dems and republicans at these meetings voicing their opposition. But it has now been found that at least some of these were liberal democrats trying to make the media and the public think it was all extremists at these rallies. My guess the dem party was behind the plants since you saw all the spokes people and Obama stating it was all extremists at these rallies and not the voice of most americans.
But why is Obama afraid to listen to the people? Why does he believe the only option is he option with a socialised approach. Why does he not insist that all of congress is on the national plan if it is so good. We do not have the problems of other countries of socialised care, so why have radical change vs some of the ideas addressing the issues that Obama uses as examples are very viable without a governement control system. Why does he have to have the government in control of 1/3 of the economy.

You are right, I did vote against the GOP because of the disaster th last 4 years of Bush. Remember, I voted for W in 04 and consider it the biggest political mistake of my 48 year voting life. Frankly, Obama is not doing a particularly good job but he is not doing nearly as badly as you would have us believe and he is not "destroying" the country!

What disaster? Can't be worse than what we have today.

WW: "Even snopes could not confirm the statement as inaccurate, even if they said it was taken out of context."
That's not what Snopes said.
Snopes: This item is certainly false in the literal sense that President Barack Obama did not utter the words attributed to him above (it’s an excerpt from a form of satire that makes political or social points by putting outrageous words into the mouths of others) nor did propose a plan to “let the military pay for their war injuries.”
So, once again, your "facts" aren't factual.
Someone in the Obama administration floated the idea of having veterans who have private health insurance use that inurance to pay for their health care instead of having the government pay for it. This idea was promptly shot down by the Defense Department, veteran's groups, etc. and the idea was quickly dropped.
WW: "Unfortunately you have to post lies about your own life, which we have proven a few times. That is so sad when someone is so ashamed and embarrassed about their own life that they have to lie about it."
I watch this forum pretty closely, and I don't know what you are talking about? What lies about his own life has he been caught up in? Please enlighten me. Thanks.

1/ 9-11 - It did happen on W's watch in spite direct warnings from Clinton Nat'l Security people to Condi Rice to beware of Osama Bin Laden and in spite her own intelligence briefing just days before the attack.
2/ 5000+ dead Americans and tens of thousands of innocent dead Iraqis because Bush gave up the pursuit of our real enemy in Afganistan and diverting resources to Iraq based mostly on cooked intelligence. Remember "I'm not really all that concerned by Bin Laden"?
3/ Spying on Americans citizen without a warrent in contravention of the FISA law and the US Constitution.
4/ Using the "war on terror" as an excuse to expand the power of the executive to levels never seen and probably unconstitutional.
5/ Politicizing CDC, NASA, NOAA, EPA, DOD and most disturbing of all...The Dept. of Justice.
6/ Leaking the names of CIA agents to the press for political reasons and then instituting a cover up and stonewalling the investigation.
7/ Promoting the most extreme laissez faire economic policies which worked for a while but soon led to the near complete collapse of the US and world financial system and plunged the entire world into a near depression which we are only now beginning to slowly crawl out of.
I could go on but my fingers are tired. Now instead of popping off about all the terrible things Obama is doing (the good Lord knows we've had that infinitum from you for months), why don't you name some of the things W did that you find so heroic?

Just do a search on GF and you will see he claimed to buy a home in the Ridge before they were even selling, after several exchanges he finally confessed that it was not true. Personally I do not care where the guy lives, makes or does or has done for a living. Yet he has demonstrated class envy many many times.

This is so laughable that it would be like mental masturbation to try and even respond to someone that things the way you do. If this is the best you can come up with as "your disaster" over 8 years, I don't know how you can even look in the mirror as to the distruction of our country in just 8 months.
Why haven't you still responded as to where you think we will be in just two years. I love to see your thoughts. You obviously think Obama is doing a great job and you pick the fly $hit out of the pepper to find a morsel of good news ... so where do you think all this good news will lead us in just 2 years.
If you have a vision as to where we are going I would love to hear it ... I hope you are right and would give you full recognition and my sincere apology for knocking his policies if you are right.
I, and many others, do not see it. But who knows maybe we are wrong. But would love to know your economic vision as to where Obama is going to take the country.
Please. It has to be a bit shameful to keep posting your praises, yet you won't just say what YOU think his policies will lead us. All you seem to do is crticize thoughs that do not agree with you or do not share an optomistic view as to where Obama is taking the country.
I also don't get how you and others want to blame Bush for everything, and give Obama a bye, yet the many issues Bush took over from Clinton you want to say it was all Bush's fault because it took place under his watch. Are your really fair and balanced when you want it both ways? Which is it?
All I can say is I NEVER ONCE heard Bush say he inherited anything from Clinton. He just acted like a true leader and went to work on solving problems and addressing the national security weaknesses created under Clinton by treating terrorism as a civil matter. Bush did not complain about the recession he inherited and then 9/11 ... he took action and got americans back to work and created jobs. He never told people out of work that it may be another two years before we see job growth.

|
Abortion & Traditional Values
1.Banned Partial Birth Abortion — by far the most significant roll-back of abortion on demand since Roe v. Wade.
2.Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy.
3.By Executive Order (EO), reversed Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act.
4.By EO, prohibited federal funds for international family planning groups that provide abortions and related services.
5.Upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals.
6.Made $33 million available for abstinence education programs in 2004. 7.Supports the Defense of Marriage Act — and a Constitutional amendment saying marriage is between one man and one woman. 8.Requires states to conduct criminal background checks on prospective foster and adoptive parents. 9.Requires districts to let students transfer out of dangerous schools. 10.Requires schools to have a zero-tolerance policy for classroom disruption (reintroducing discipline into classrooms). 11.Signed the Teacher Protection Act, which protects teachers from lawsuits related to student discipline. 12.Expanded the role of faith-based and community organizations in after-school programs.
Budget, Taxes & Economy
1.Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history. 2.Supports permanent elimination of the death tax.
3.Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks. 4.Is seeking legislation to amend the Constitution to give the president line-item veto authority. 5.In process of permanently eliminating IRS marriage penalty.
6.Increased small business incentives to expand and to hire new people.
7.Initiated discussion on privatizing Social Security and individual investment accounts.
8.Killed Clinton's "ergonomic" rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules would have shut down every home business in America.
9.Passed tough new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals.
10.Reduced taxes on dividends and capital gains.
11.Signed trade promotion authority.
12.Reduced and is working to ultimately eliminate the estate tax for family farms and ranches. 13.Fight Europe's ban on importing biotech crops from the United States. 14.Exempt food from unilateral trade sanctions and embargoes. 15.Provided $20 million to states to help people with disabilities work from home. 16.Created a fund to encourage technologies that help the disabled. 17.Increased the annual contribution limit on Education IRA's from $500 to $2,000 per child. 18.Make permanent the $5,000 adoption tax credit and provide $1 billion over five years to increase the credit to $10,000. 19.Grant a complete tax exemption for prepaid or college tuition savings plans. 20.Reduced H1B visas from a high of 195,000 per year to 66,000 per year. Character & Conduct as President
1.Changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the presidency. 2.Has reintroduced the mention of God and faith into public discourse. 3.Handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days: •Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing."
•On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The crowd roared with cheers and chants of "USA! USA! USA!" Then he raised that American flag and rallied a nation:
Education & Employment Training
1.Signed the No Child Left Behind Act, delivering the most dramatic education reforms in a generation (challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations). The very liberal California Teachers union is currently running radio ads against the accountability provisions of this Act.
2.Announced "Jobs for the 21st Century," a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education. 3.Is working to provide vouchers to low-income students in persistently failing schools to help with costs of attending private schools. (Blocked in the Senate.) 4.Requires annual reading and math tests in grades three through eight. 5.Requires states to participate in the National Assessment of Education Progress, or an equivalent program, to establish a national benchmark for academic performance. 6.Requires school-by-school accountability report cards. 7.Established a $2.4 billion fund to help states implement teacher accountability systems. 8.Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to to become teachers.
Environment & Energy
1.Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty. 2.Submitted a comprehensive Energy Plan (awaits Congressional action). The plan works to develop cleaner technology, produce more natural gas here at home, make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy, improve national grid, etc. 3.Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives. 4.Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops.
5.Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger.
6.Part of national forests cleanup: Restricted judicial challenges (based on the Endangered Species Act and other challenges), and removed the need for an Environmental Impact Statement before removing fuels/logging to reduce fire danger.
7.Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California.
8.Provided matching grants for state programs that help private landowners protect rare species.
Defense & Foreign Policy
1.Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom. 2.Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured. 3.Leader by leader and member by member, al Qaida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaida leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaida leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror. 4.Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed.
5.Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track fun

a liberal blog of all the bad things Bush did wrong in his presidency. At the top of the list was that 2 million jobs were lost in his first 18 months as president.
So if Bush is responsible for the loss of those jobs, despite the recession he inherited after the tech bubble burst under Clinton and then 9/11 ... how come the liberals now do not point to the job losses under Obama and say he owns those.
It does not bother me ... have it either way, but not both. We all know the millions of jobs actuall created from Bush's policies, how that helped the economy the stock market and everyone's 401k, second only to Reagan. You need far less government social programs if you create the environment of growth and job creation.
But Obama is still whinning and saying it will be another two years before we see job growth. Personally I think we may not see a net gain in jobs in Obama's first term.
When is Obama going to look in the mirror and be honest with americans, that we are not seeing job creation and growth of businesses because of his policies and incorrect economic stimulus.
You can disagree, that is your right. Say where you think his policies will lead us. But so far the "facts" show we are definitely not on the right course and the BEST we can say is that the destruction of the economy and the country that Obama's policies have caused have at least slowed. We only lost another quarter million jobs last month, even though the weekly claims the last two weeks have been back in the 500,000 to 600,000 range.

you just wrote his book for him. Maybe you should give him a call.
You know, no President is all bad or all good. GWB did do some good things. I don't know who could have done better than he did on 9/11 and the days thereafter. I think some of the things that came out of 9/11 have been unfairly criticized 7 years post.
I'll even forgive him the response to Katrina, because he probably had no freaking clue that the head of FEMA and the Head of Home Land Security were locked in mortal combat. I think when he writes his book, he'll regret what happened (despite his claim that he has "no regrets". But, his 2nd term was a disaster and that is coming from some one who voted for him. The Iraq was a huge mistake. I don't want to debate it, because I feel history will reflect this. And he has to assume at least partial responsiblity for the economic meltdown. It started on his watch. I don't blame him entirely, because I think the makings of the meltdown started before the Bush Administration, but I kinda doubt he ever looked out and asked himself if all the "properity" was nothing more than a bubble. I think all politicians should ask themselves those kind of questions and really probe the answers. He made some mistakes in putting too much trust in his advisors -- Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld (and the boys), probably George Tenet. I suspect they told him what they wanted him to know, probably what he wanted to hear. Everything was not great.
I know you love him and are probably one of only a handful of people who will buy his book when it comes out. I would buy it just because I'd be interested in seeing if he has had time to reflect and maybe adjusted his perspective with the passage of time. Historians will ultimately decide how his Adminsitration will be judged; just as they will judge Obama at some point in the future.
