Here is a the results of a poll that demonstrates what a train wreck the vaccine messaging is.  And this comports with my experience with people about the vaccines.  Having to wear a mask and social distance after having been vaccinated implies the vaccine does not work.  And forget all the nonsense about variants....there is zero data to show this is a real concern.  In essence, if the CDC would tell Americans they no longer need to wear masks or social distance there would be a second rush on vaccines. 

And yes, Republicans are more wary of the vaccine than Democrats.  Is that any surprise?  We can think independently from what the govt tells us.  We understand the inherent risks of the virus and the uncertainty associated with mRNA-based vaccines and are more cautious.  But even over half of Republicans that have not been vaccinated would do so if they were told no masks and social distancing.  Why you ask?  Because they are sick of the restrictions to our liberties and hearing no masks and social distancing means that the CDC actually believes the vaccines work.  If we knew they worked we would be more likely to take on the risk of some adverse effect.  In essence, the reward outweighs the risk.  We already know how unlikely it is that we will die from the virus if we are younger or do not have co-morbidities.  We don't know the long-term impact of the vaccines and are not willing as yet to take the chance we will be one of the unlucky ones and have an adverse reaction.  Tell us the vaccines work with the logical conclusion that if you are vaccinated you no longer need masks or social distancing.  Trust me, it will work.  And if in fact variants do happen to pop up they can always reinstate the measures for the vaccinated.

I, and many of us, have been vaccinated for more diseases than I can remember…polio, mumps, measles, typhoid fever, smallpox, malaria, tetanus, many varieties of flu, and I’m sure I’ve missed several more.  I never asked whether it was mRNA, or whatever…I was just told I had to take them by parents, military, passport…..whoever.  I’ve proudly had my covid vaccinations, and no I did not consider the mask wearing to be an incentive to get the shot.  I don’t like the mask anymore than anyone else, but I’ll be damned if I am willing to risk dying of covid by not getting the shots.  

Political BS has nothing to do with staying alive…period.

First of all, the mRNA is not even technically a vaccine like the others you have taken.  I too have gotten vaccines all my life.  My whole point, which you apparently missed, is that the mixed signals about the efficacy of the vaccine is not helping the cause.  Bully for you that you got the vaccine but a lot of people have very legitimate concerns and the continued requiring of masks, etc. sends the very clear message that the vaccine doesn't work.  You do get that point don't you?

This has nothing to do with Trump so save the TDS for another subject.  My whole point, apparently lost on you and Wix, is that the messaging about the vaccine is a big part of the problem.  If the vaccine works then once you have it and developed the antibodies why would you need a mask or social distancing, etc.?  You are protected, right?  But no, the idiots in the govt tell us we still have to wear a mask which undermines the credibility of the vaccine's efficacy.  People are not stupid. They can see the contradiction. 

So if you are at all hesitant to take a vaccine using a novel approach that has never been tried in all of human history (and you should be) and the govt tells you that it doesn't work you just might not want to take on the uncertainty or risk of an adverse reaction.  It's simple risk management related to the concept of voluntary versus involuntary risk. 

So to make my point once again, if they would tell the American people that once you have the vaccine and developed the antibodies you can forgo the mask and social distancing it might actually convince some of the hesitant ones to go get it.  I assume you think that's a good idea, right?

Interesting perspective.  Since you are vaccinated why would you care if someone doesn't wear a mask?  You're protected, right?  And since you are vaccinated and believe you can no longer be infected and can't spread the disease to someone else why wear a mask, right?  I know how desperately you want to be affirmed in your decision and I get the desire.  But you are a classic example of the problem.  You've been vaccinated so you are all set to go.....and yet you still want people to wear masks.  To me that is complete nonsense.

The fact is that no one really knows and you miss the point. It has nothing to do with 8th grade and TDS but rather the vaccine was rushed and no one knows the ultimate protection. If you care to check facts, you will find the typical approval period for a vaccine is a hell of lot longer than the COVID that was approved as an emergency. Testing for a new vaccine includes not only reaction to the actual vaccine but additional stages to include testing for its effectiveness.

I wish I understood the purpose of your post. Hopefully, after time has elapsed they will find it is effective enough to discontinue social distance and masks. And, maybe we will need a booster like the flu. Surprisingly, you don't know. Nor, does Goofy, WIX, CRD,  Fauci or the CDC. To criticize them is rather intellectually dishonest.

Trump did a great job getting it approved and available for the public. Biden did a great just getting it distrubuted. Yes, WIX and I agree on this one.

Pfizer received emergency authorization of its COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12 to 15. Health and school officials talk future vaccine efforts.

NOTICE THE WORD EMERGENCY. The approval is for its usage in 12-15...it's effectiveness will be proven over time. They will be encouraged to keep safe distance and wear masks.

So let me be 100% clear.  If I were older and had co-comorbities I would have gotten the vaccine when it came out.  A no brainer risk versus reward decision for an intelligent person.  If I were younger and in good health, understood the potential risk of getting virus, the potential risk of the vaccine and the very uncertain novel approach and the need for continued measures then a logical, intelligent, thoughtful person would obviously say no thanks.  You are no better than the idiots in our government telling us on one hand we must take the vaccine but on the other hand you would be an idiot to do so.

There is much still unknown about the virus and the vaccine(s).  I cannot fault those who ask questions.  They are simply attempting to stratify risk and determine if the benefits outweigh those risks and if there is a viable alternative to reaching the end goal of herd immunity.  That is what intelligent individuals do.
