I read several articles this morning with people close to him stating that Trump is "mentally unreachable" at this point and has convinced himself that the election was stolen from him. What he did to incite the violence in the Capitol yesterday is evience of someone that has turned the mental corner. While I admire and will continue to admire his willingness to take on issues that others had dodged, and for the good he did early on in his Administration, I believe he has turned a corner mentally and I do question his fitness for duty for the next days until the inauguration. My hat is off to Mike Pence, for doing the mature thing - explaining to Trump that he didn't have the authority to overturn the election, and then leading the Congressioal Certification yesterday.
People are wanting to compare the riots and protests of last summer to this incident yesterday, but while they were both wrong, they are not the same thing. This insurrection yesterday was an attack on the Constitution and an attack on the very heart of our government.
I'm not happy that our government will be run by Democrats, because I believe that our government works best when reasonable people from both parties are part of the leadership team. We need a drag on the more outlandish ideas that satisfy a short term, but in the long term may not be feasible or good for the country. Hopefully, some of our lazy-ass representatives will start to do their jobs. In fact, that may be the silver lining of yesterday's attack - perhaps it will shake members of the House and Senate out of their party politics stupor, and get them back to doing what they are supposed to do.
I undestand that many on this forum will ignore or violently disagree with me, but that is okay.

Oh I do disagree - not violently but disagree.
How is it not the same when a federal court house is set on fire nightly for months? How is it not the same when liberals took over the Hart federal building in DC over Kavanaugh? How is it not different when DC was burning a few months ago and monuments were destroyed or vandalized? How is it not different when the Church across from the White House was torched?
The only difference is it was directed at Trump for the last several years and liberals, MSM applauded, bailed out and helped the criminals - but now its different because its not focused at Trump, it is focused at the ones who bailed out criminals and smiled for the cameras saying get Trump supporters anywhere they are, make them uncomfortable, push them out, they have no place in society, supporters should be investigated and jailed.
Riots, looting, burning, arson and damaging property(smashing windows for social justice) were bad then and bad now- only diffference is where the hatred is directed.

Well he is certainly not alone in thinking the election was stolen. All this could have been avoided if there was an actual investigation of the irregularities so people could learn the truth. Instead lawsuits were rejected not based on evidence but on procedural grounds. No plausible explanation of the strange events in PA, WI, GA, NV and MI were made other than blanket denials, a refusal to investigate and a denigration of people that had legitimate concerns as conspiracy theorists. Instead we get stonewalling to run out the clock which only heightens the suspicions. And maybe there was no fraud but given the reaction of the election officials it certainly seems to me they had something to hide.
The people that resorted to violence yesterday did so of their own accord and they are personally responsible for their actions. But Trump isn't to blame for this. They saw years of violent rioting and looting from Antifa and BLM and the excuses from the media that they were angry, frustrated and feel helpless so they just had to resort to violence. And they saw prominent Democrats and stupid leftist celebrities bailing out the ones that were not in a city controlled by a Soros-funded DA. They basically saw violence as a sanctioned response to being angry, furstrated and feeling hopeless. And whose fault is that? Not Trump.
These people saw that the left resorts to rioting and seem to be getting what they want and they stupidly got caught up in the moment and the mob mentality took over. I have warned everyone that this was headed to a civil war if the left didn't get control of themselves. These idiots yesterday saw themselves as patriots trying to save their country from America-hating leftists and resorted to the same tactics used against them and their beliefs for years.
For Trump this might indeed be all about Trump but I frankly don't care because for me it is all about saving our republic. If a large percentage of the population believes that we will no longer have free and fair national elections and that voter fraud will be tolerated and even encouraged and that the rules will be changed to enable and encourage fraud then this country is indeed headed to another civil war. The left and Democrats can avoid all this by calling for a thorough, comprehensive bipartisan investigation of the 2020 election. Instead it will be swept under the rug and in 2024 we will have more protests and violence. And they will be to blame and I have to wonder why they won't listen to tens of millions of Americans and do so. My theory is because it will indeed uncover massive fraud and that Trump won the election. And it will result in a fair election free of massive fraud which they might lose and they can't let that happen.

Yep... yet another example of the hypocrisy of the Democrats in government. Rioting and looting are A-OK as long as it isn't directyed at them....sort of like millions of people losing their jobs due to shutdowns were A-Ok as long as they were getting their paychecks. And climate change is really bad and we need to get rid of oil while they ride around in private jets, have multiple homes and SUVs. And guns are bad and should be banned while they have armed guards and live in gated homes. They are reaping what they have sown and I have been warning about this for some time.

Sadly, it was the same folks doing the violence and destruction, antifa. The officer who shot the women should be up on charges as he was in NO IMMINENT THREAT when he shot her.
