Today, America lost a true patriot...Sen John McCain. May he RIP.

Patriot my ass. You lefties loved him because he was one of you but when got elected a Democrat didn't stand a chance at winning an election. You think the families of the sailors that died on the USS Forestall consider him a hero?

A publicity whore to the very end. He announces he is "bravely" stopping treatment the day before he dies. They new he was down to hours and used his death for publicity. They have no shame. Now we have to tolerate his libtard wife for the next 30 years or so unless somebody comes along that can beat her.

Hate to see anyone pass away, but I knew a POW who was in Hanoi with McCain and he said he was not liked or respected

By fellow POWs.  My friend wouldn't discuss it much, but he spent about as much time in Hanoi as McCain did and was released the same day.

McCain was ranking POW, and evidently did stuff to get all punished.  Hey, Kavanaugh will have another vote soon....I hope.

Thanks for ''honoring'' a rare true patriot WIX.  As usual you do yourself proud.

I voted for John McCain in the GA primary in 2000 and think the nation would have been better off if he had been our president from 2001 - 2008 than it was with W.  I often did not agree with him but always respected him.  He was one of the last politicians that always put the good of the nation and the nation's citizens above whatever was the current party orthodoxy.  He will be sorely missed.

"You think the families of the sailors that died on the USS Forestall consider him a hero?" Show your source...this is a lie......

I simply reported what had been relayed to me by a knowledgeable person with first hand information.  If you don't like it...TS.

Lifer, I have to agree with you.  Last year when he was diagnosed, he could have stepped down and enjoyed whatever time he had left with his family - but no, he didn't do that. Why?  Because he wanted to continue to get attention from the 15 minute sound bite.  And his family will recieve more money that he died in office, than if he had retired and died a retiree.  He ran unsucessfully twice for President and became a bitter old man after his second loss.  Let's face it, he rode the POW thing for years and built a career on it.  He did nothing heroic, he was just a POW (which was horrible, I'm sure, but he didn't do anything more than get shot down).   When he got sick, he was 80 years old and had no plans to retire.

I guess you can tell I'm not a fan.

Here is a man who joined the service and gave 5 years of his life and the full use of his arms to torture in a NVN prison then returned home to give the rest of his life to his family and to occasionally ouestionable but mainly praise worthy public service which was noted for its bipartisan ability to get good things done, yet apparently most of you consider him a coward and man unworthy of recognition even in death?  But, you have only praise for a man who avoided service because he ''suffered from bone spurs'', considers it his right to ''grab them by the puzzy'', mocks the disabled and Gold Star families and war heros, disparages judges because of their ethnicity, lies with abandon and is doing more to sow division and discord in the nation than any politician since Joe McCarthy!  The latter is not worth to clean the former's toilet!

John McCain.....I voted for him the first time and did not the second time. I will tell you this, though...like him or not, he provided more service to this country than the last four Presidents combined. For any one of you to suggest he was not a hero shows a real lack of character and common decency. You did not always need to agree with him, which I did not, to acknowledge his service to this country. This will be my last post on the forum. I am on the other side of the aisle than most of you but I have always read this forum as I realize that I am not always correct and don't always see things in ways that many of you do. I think it most valuable to read opinions from the 'other side' and particularily if they are from local folk. I detest the insults and name-calling and have blocked those that only do that but have gotten some insight from many of you. But I am done with this forum.

McCain/Feingold?

Keating Five?  Hardly good for America.

Ask the good citizens of Arizona how they feel.  His funeral arrangements are way over the top too.    Renaming a Senate Office Building after him?  Give me a break.  May he RIP, but he was a publicity whore who, I agree, should have retired when he was diagnosed.  The schtick about him refusing any more treatment the day before he died was an utter farce.
