Now the (Social)Justice Dept. and the dept of indoctantion, err I mean education, have gotten together to issue and edict from king obama that school children MUSTbe allowed to use whatever bathroom they desire.  If this had been the way of the world when I was that age I would have plopped myself right in the middle of the "girls" locker room, not because I am lgbt, but because I am hetero and was full of raging hormones, like all teens.  

So the threat is sanctions and loss of federal funds.  Here is my take on federal money for education.  Nationwide the feds contribute about 10% to local schools.  I think it is more like 7% but havent seen a recent, post obama number.  So even at 10% why would they take the money.  If I have a business and I take on a partner with 10% equity I dont let them rule what happens in that business, even if they threaten to leave.  Especially if they are demanding that I implement policies that 99% of my clients/customers find objectionable/offensive.  It is insanity, yet good folks send their children in to these conditions 5 days a week.  I know most everyone is thinking well it aint happening at my kids school.  Wanna bet?  It may be more subtle in some areas, but it is still happening.  Your chiidren ore being indoctanated, NOT educated.

Google up communism and right at the top of the agenda is the state MUST control education.

1/.  The schools can refuse to implement the the federal mandate and give up the federal funds (for AL that would not be a good option unless you are willing to pay lots more taxes or have lots worse schools)

2/.   Where do you come up with 99%?  Polls show that 50 to 60% do not see this "bathroom" stuff as a serious issue.  Much of Europe has largely had unisex toilets to a large extent for years with no problems.

3/.  To paraphrase a letter to the Governor of NC from an individual who had gone through a complete sex change from female to male "My birth certificate says l was born a woman but l am now a man.  I look like a man, dress like a man, live the life of a man and have the external organs of a man, but if I live by the letter of the NC law l will be using the restroom with your wife and daughter.  Hope you are ok with that Governor?"

4/.  Who really cares...don't we have other more important things to be concerned about? Things like an unstable, egotistical narcissist possibly being elected to have his finger on the red button?

Transgenders are only .3% of the population, and I think this has been blown out of proportion.  Most kids are accepting of other kids until some a adult fosters their prejudices and fears upon them. If the South woud stop over-reacting to the issue, there wouldn't be an issue, no one would feel compelled to issue directives, and things would be as they always have been. 

I keep wondering if people are hanging out in bathroom or looking under the stall door.  What next, bathroom police.  Will we have to carry our birth certificates around or maybe pictures of your private parts?  Where does it end?

.........for those who don’t know much about it.

1.        Being homosexual means you are sexually attracted to people of your own gender.  Currently, and in all the years leading up today, homosexual boys shower with the heterosexual boys, and homosexual girls are in the girl’s bathroom.   It has always been this way.
2.       Being Transgender means you feel that your true sexual identity is that of the other sex, not the one you were born with.  Boys who are transsexual feel like they should be girls & have female psychology.   And they are attracted to boys.   If they look & act effeminate enough, other boys will respond to them like they are girls.   Transgender women look like men, dress like men, talk like men…. And are attracted to women.     Many transgender people have had gender reassigning surgery, giving them sexual features consistent with how they feel.   You know, boobs and such, surgically constructed vaginas or penises….
3.       You have been using the restroom with transsexual people for a long time now, you just didn’t know it.   They have been concealing themselves to keep their lives private, avoid embarrassing confrontations and possible attacks by people who are homophobic. 
4.       Requiring transsexuals to use the bathroom of their birth gender means you will find someone in a dress entering the stall next to you (if you are a guy), or you will notice a very male-looking person entering the restroom your wife just entered.  Just don’t get upset if they smile at you and this makes you feel uncomfortable, after all… they are using the restroom you want them in.
5.        In the absence of a bathroom monitor who checks the sex organs of everyone entering the restroom, it is probably simpler just to let people decide which bathroom is appropriate for their use and continue to teach children to report and avoid inappropriate sexual advances from strangers… regardless of what clothing they are wearing.   And, of course, the simplest solution of all… a private unisex restroom, similar to those “family restrooms” where parents can have some privacy with their kids.

Probably the most important change that the Gay Rights movement brought about was that it is now understood that gay men are not pedophiles.   That was the basic premise of discrimination against them, that they were automatically dangerous to children.   We all know that isn't true now, right?

Now comes this business of Transgender Rights, and the same reasoning needs to be pointed out.   Transgender people are not sexual predators.  They mean you no harm and will not attack if they see you naked. 

I hope that makes everybody feel a bit safer tonight.

You’re right, a lot of people fear this will make it possible (even likely) for someone to abuse their kids.   I just don’t think this law will have any impact on that concern one way or the other.  Trans people aren’t “peeping toms”, the number of voyeurs out there who actually get off watching other people in the bathroom is probably really small.  And the straight guy who dresses up like a woman, waltzes into the girl’s locker room to take a peek… well, he will continue to be pretty easy to spot.

I have known 2 couples who were raising trans kids.   Both were educated, professionally trained people who really loved their kids & struggled with the issues that nature had presented them with.    One couple’s child was born a boy, but by age 8 the parents had become convinced of the child’s sincere belief that he was gender-disordered.    It was really interesting to hear them talk about it.   Mom said she had begun to notice that ‘he’ was a ‘she’ from a really young age, and as the child matured, the identification with female traits, interests, and feelings was just growing stronger.   They decided to let the child begin to dress & conduct themselves as a female, and this included talking to the school about accepting the child’s chosen sexual identity.    A fight erupted among other parents who appealed to the school to prevent this child from having contact with their children.   They wanted this child removed from school altogether, never to return.  The parents were accused of ‘perverting’ their own child when they were trying to accept what nature had presented them with.    This was not fair to any of them nor was it reasonable to think that this little girl posed any danger to the other kids.  She was just like any normal little girl who liked horses and played with dolls.   The school’s accommodation was not a big deal, she used the rest room in the nurse’s office… a compromise that should have satisfied everybody’s concerns.   The family was making plans for an eventual hormone therapy & surgical sex-reassignment, but the cost of this is extremely high…. And not covered by medical insurance in most cases.

The second couple had an even more complicated situation.   Their child was born a hermaphrodite, having both male and female sex organs.   They had to choose which sex their child would be and after extensive consultations with medical experts regarding whether the child was ‘more male’ or ‘more female’, made the decision to proceed with a series of surgeries to remove female genitalia and commit to the male identity.   Over the first years of his life, he then had numerous constructive surgeries.   The next big looming problem was whether they had in fact chosen the sexual identity that would be consistent with the child’s innate psychology, something that would not be revealed until several years had passed.   As he got older, would he feel like a boy or would he feel he was female?   There was no way to know what the child’s psychology would be, only what the external sex organs would look like.    I lost touch with them over the years, but reckon that this child would be about 30 years old now.   In a small way, his case underscores the absurdity of the North Carolina law… which bathroom would you use if you were born with both sex organs?

A law like this may seem really odd to most of us because episodes like this don’t happen very often… and where they have occurred, it was (naturally) kept very quiet and private.  Maybe if not for that, we might see that acceptance of these folks isn’t all that big a deal.   

The public outcry to this is chock full of fear & misunderstanding right now.  It’s an over-reaction.   I don’t think there is any danger to the general public here.

It's not the transgender that I would be worried about.  It is the individual who can hide behind the "gender neutral" banner and gain access to areas reserved for the privacy of anatomically born females.  Then what happens if a group of females feel threatened by a so-called transgender individual and in protecting themselves, do physical harm to said transgender.  Is that a Hate Crime?  To what extent do females now have to prove that they feel threatened before protecting themselves risking Fed hate crime prosecution?   Leave it up to the states and if anything, create a transgender RR separate and distinct.  Should have gone into politics........
