Following is a supposedly actual exchange of corresponsence between a customer and Larnrod Eireann (Irish National Railway)
Gentlemen, I have been a daily user of one of your lines for over two years and the service on this line is getting worse by the day. By the time the train reaches my station it is always packed with passengers and I must stand in the aisle for the 14 mile trip into Dublin. I think someone living 2000 years ago probably had a better means of transport than I have to experience every day.
Yours truly Patrick Finnegan
Dear Mr Finnegan: Thank you for your letter concerning the shortcomings of one of our routes. We have passed the letter to the proper department for possible further action. But, in reply to your final comment, you do seem somewhat confused on the history of transport. In fact 2000 years ago the only means of transport for the vast majority of the populace was to walk!
Best regards Larnrod Eireann
Gentlemen, I am in receipt of your letter sent in response to my complaint. You are the one confused on the history of transport. I refer you to the Holy Bible, book of David, Chapter 9 where you will read that Balaam rode into town on his a##. Gentlemen, that is something that I have never been able to do on the Larnrod Eireann!
Yours truly Patrick Finnegan
